Yeongtong-gu BBQ with doenjang sulbap and egg custard: Sogogi Twist
In short
Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch is a US prime-grade beef BBQ restaurant on Hyowon-ro in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon. Three of us shared the 1kg mixed prime beef platter for 88,000 won, which came with kkotsaeu-sal (shrimp-shaped shoulder cut), salchisal (chuck flap) and jebichuri (hanger steak), and added doenjang sulbap (rice in soybean paste stew) and egg custard — more than enough food. With 90 minutes of free parking and side dishes refilled without asking, Sogogi Twist is an easy pick for a group dinner.

A beef restaurant with great quality and good prices that I visited with people I really cherish. I went because I'd heard it was a hidden gem, and the meal exceeded my expectations 😊

What comes on the 1kg mixed prime beef platter for 88,000 won?
We ordered the mixed prime beef platter — kkotsaeu-sal + salchisal + jebichuri — 1kg for ₩88,000. We picked it straight off the menu.

Side dishes to cut through the richness of the beef. Crunchy diced radish kimchi, cool young radish kimchi, and sweet-and-sour pickles.

Onion pickles, which pair perfectly with the meat, plus three sauces — ssamjang (soybean paste dip), garlic, and salt. I love ssamjang with beef too, hehe.

Grilling the prime beef platter at Sogogi Twist: how it cooks and tastes
The mixed beef platter we ordered arrived!!!! Doesn't that bright red color look so fresh? The marbling was gorgeous too — my mouth was watering even before it hit the grill.

Plump, cute king oyster mushrooms came alongside it. Eaten with the golden-grilled beef, they made a really great pairing 🍄🟫🍄🟫
We slowly laid the meat pieces on the heated grill one by one.

Because it's a mixed platter, we got to try several cuts at once, which was even better.

Taking a bite, the juices burst in my mouth and the texture was so tender — truly the best. It was grilled exactly to our preferred doneness, and we kept serving each other more.

It's delicious with just a dip of salt, and even better with the mustard onion pickles. Beef that stays tasty no matter how much you eat.

Salchisal, kkotsaeu-sal and jebichuri: how the three cuts differ
Salchisal melts in your mouth the moment you bite in, thanks to the marbling, with a rich, savory juiciness ~! Saeu-sal is tender yet has a chewy bounce, bursting with deep flavor and juice with every bite ~! Jebichuri has less fat, so it's chewy and lean, with a deep, pure beef flavor that grows the more you chew ~!
There was so much food that the three of us ate until we were completely full.

Since it's US top 3% prime grade, there was absolutely no gamey smell at all, and I was surprised how delicious the nutty beef aroma tasted.

The friend I brought along said it was completely delicious and that they wanted to bring their family here too.

This counts as a certified hidden gem, right? *^^* The scallion salad here is also seriously addictive — spicy, tangy, and sweet ~.< //
While I was busy taking photos

these lovely people... grilled the meat for us with such care.. ♡

The beef here is so delicious 🤤🤤 Eating something this good makes you even happier.

.. 🥹 I missed this 🥹 .. cheers ~ 🍻🥂

Finishing with doenjang sulbap and a side of egg custard
After enjoying the beef, of course you have to finish with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). We tucked into doenjang sulbap — rice ladled into a savory stew loaded with big chunks of tofu, zucchini, and green onion. It cleared out the richness perfectly.

Packed with meat and a rich broth — this is a dish you absolutely have to order alongside the beef.

And ~ there's more meat, haha. Sharing delicious food together made the time even happier.

The egg custard we ordered as a side was amazing too. It puffed up like a fluffy bomb, super generous in portion — a big spoonful was fluffy and soft all through the stone pot, and it went perfectly with the beef.

Is Sogogi Twist a good spot for a group dinner in Yeongtong-gu?
Whenever a side dish ran low, the staff came over right away and kindly refilled everything without us having to ask. Thanks to that, we had a pleasant, uninterrupted meal. 🥩 Highly recommend this beef spot 🥩
