Sunday dinner for two at a Suwon beef BBQ restaurant: Sogogi Twist
In short
Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch is a beef BBQ restaurant in a shopping block in front of the Samsung Electronics main gate, near Yeongtong District Office in Suwon, Gyeonggi. With a Sunday 6pm reservation, two diners shared a 1kg prime-grade beef platter (flap meat, chuck flap and neck chain) with a 5,000 won doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), and Sogogi Twist was full even on a Sunday. The beef quality was good enough that two people finished the full 1kg with no trouble.

Today I've brought a review from Sogogi Twist, a Korean BBQ spot near Yeongtong District Office, where I had a 1kg prime-grade beef platter. I wondered if two of us could really eat 1kg of beef, but it was so good it just slid right in. Let's get into the review. Let's go!

Where is Sogogi Twist in Yeongtong, and where do you park?
Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch sits in the shopping strip right in front of Samsung Electronics' main gate. It's only 3–4 minutes on foot from the main gate, and 1–2 minutes from Yeongtong District Office, which makes it a great pick for a Yeongtong District Office group dinner!

We booked a reservation for 6pm on a Sunday, and the restaurant was already more than half full — a bit later, it was completely packed. If we hadn't reserved, we would have had to wait!
If you live around here, you'd know that a lot of the shops near Samsung Electronics only get customers on weekdays and close on weekends. But Sogogi Twist near Yeongtong District Office was packed even on a Sunday — clearly popular.
We took a taxi since we planned to drink, but if you're driving, you can use the building's underground parking or the Yeongtong District Office parking lot.
Inside Sogogi Twist and what's on the menu

The place was nearly full so I couldn't get a detailed shot of the seating, but the tables were spacious and the chairs were comfortable. At Korean BBQ restaurants the table always feels cramped with all the side dishes, but here the tables were wide, and the tissue box was mounted on the exhaust hood, which was convenient, haha.
Every table has an ordering tablet. It's easy to check photos and prices while ordering, and you can check the running total anytime, so there's no confusion!

The menu at Sogogi Twist in Yeongtong! Beef is the main event, but they also sell pork. Since we came today to demolish some beef, let's just focus on the beef menu 🧐
They say the beef platter uses only prime-grade beef! Since it lets you taste flap meat, chuck flap, and neck chain all together, there was no hesitation in ordering it, haha. 500g or 1kg — that was the question...! We figured 500g would leave us wanting more, so we ordered 1kg!

Besides beef and pork single orders and sets, there's also a menu where you can enjoy both beef and pork together, so take your time browsing!
The banchan side dishes that come with the meal
The basic side dishes were set out. The pickled onions had a sharp mustard kick that suited my taste well, and the yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi), diced radish pickle, radish pickle, and pickled perilla leaves all had a clean, refreshing flavor that paired well with the meat.

Disposable aprons are available if you ask for one!
You can't have beef without a soju-beer mix 💕 — they even had Terra Light. Curious how it would be with somaek, we ordered some!
The other tables were a mix — some families, some just adults, all kinds of groups. It was lively, but since the weather isn't too hot these days, they had a window open to the outside, which kept it from feeling stuffy. We sipped our somaek while waiting for the beef.
How does the 1kg prime beef platter taste?

Here comes the 1kg beef platter! Wow... the meat quality looks amazing! The marbling was just right, no clumpy or dry-looking fat, just a glossy, bright red beef! 🥩
The first batch on the grill was 4 pieces of chuck flap and neck chain! Freshly grilled beef tastes best, so we put on just the right amount. What's your favorite cut of beef? Mine is chuck flap! Tender and not greasy at all, so delicious 💕

The well-cooked chuck flap — since overcooking ruins the flavor, we quickly moved it onto the stone plate. If you leave it on the grill it overcooks, and if you put it on a regular plate it cools too fast, but the stone plate solves both problems, haha.

It was delicious with the sweet-and-sour scallion salad, and just as good dipped only in salt. We sprinkled a little salt on the flap meat while grilling it. The slight saltiness soaking into the meat made it perfectly seasoned and so tasty.

The neck chain was best eaten plain. It had just the right amount of fat, a clean flavor, and a bit of chew — it looked a bit like galbisal (short rib meat) but had its own distinct charm! Apparently neck chain is a specialty cut that yields very little per cow. Low in fat and high in protein, basically a diet food, haha.
After tasting each cut individually, we loaded up the grill. Piled on plenty of the delicious neck chain and grilled some sliced garlic alongside it — a little pungent, a little delicious 🥲💕
A flavor that calls for beer~ The drinks came out super cold too, so drinking them ice-cold was pure bliss. Corkage at Sogogi Twist near Yeongtong District Office is just ₩10,000 per bottle, so next time I'll bring wine or Chinese liquor for corkage. Good to know if you're planning a group dinner or gathering ⭐️
When the grill needed cleaning, the staff wiped it down quickly upon request. Cleaning the grill periodically and starting fresh~ grilling more beef 🥩 The floor staff at Sogogi Twist near Yeongtong District Office are so kind... they responded with smiles and served quickly.

My beloved chuck flap — grill it just right, cut it into bite-size pieces, and it's the best.
The 5,000 won doenjang jjigae and a heaped bowl of rice
After eating a while, we craved some spicy broth and carbs, so we ordered doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) too.

The stew was bubbling away — somehow the doenjang jjigae at Korean BBQ places has that distinctive spicy, clean flavor that you can't skip 🤭

The ₩5,000 doenjang jjigae came loaded with big chunks of meat. That handle looks like it wouldn't be hot, but it is — be careful, haha.
The rice came in a generous heaping bowl, so one order was more than enough. Mixing it with the white rice and slurping it down — my favorite combo? Chuck flap plus the scallion salad. The scallion salad here is so good... it's got just a touch less spice with a tangy, spicy-sweet seasoning that's a perfect match for the meat.

When I asked my friend which combo was best, she said this photo was it, haha. White rice topped with neck chain and yeolmu kimchi!
We finished off the rest of the meat too. I thought 1kg of beef would be a lot for two people, but if we'd only ordered 500g we would have been so disappointed 😅 Proof we cleared the whole 1kg! Since it looked a bit rare and might not be the most appetizing, I covered it slightly with a heart.
