Namyangju Bukhan River café for a mom-and-me drive: Waltz and Dr. Mahn
In short
Waltz and Dr. Mahn is a large riverside café on Bukhangang-ro in Joan-myeon, Namyangju, Gyeonggi, paired with Korea's first coffee museum. On a drive with her mother, the writer ordered a Jamaica Blue Mountain hand drip for 20,000 won, an Honor and Chevalier parfait for 18,000 won, and opera cake for 9,000 won, then rested to classical music beside floor-to-ceiling views of the Bukhan River. The prices looked steep at first, but the coffee, the service and the view made Waltz and Dr. Mahn a place she would return to.

Namyangju is famous for having so many large cafés with Bukhan River views 😲 I took a drive there with my mom, and this time we went to Waltz and Dr. Mahn (왈츠와 닥터만), which has especially good reviews and Instagram-worthy photos!
It felt less like a place to just drink coffee and more like a cultural space, so I had high expectations even before visiting. Once I got there, I totally understood why the reviews are so good and it's so popular..♡ For anyone looking for a nice large café in Namyangju, let me share the service and healing moments I experienced firsthand, one by one 〰️ ☕️
Waltz and Dr. Mahn hours, closing days and parking

- 🕒 Hours: 11:00 - 21:00
- Last order 20:00
- No closed days
- 🚗 Large parking lot available
There's also a regular classical music performance every last Friday night of the month, so it'd be even better to time your visit around that!
And on one side of the building is Korea's first coffee museum. It's a place where you can experience coffee's history and how it's made firsthand, so it'd be great to bring kids too. Just note the coffee museum is closed every Monday and Tuesday, so make sure to check the day before you go! There's a separate admission fee, so keep that in mind ☕ 𓈒 𓏸
Bukhan River views and classical music from the parking lot
Waltz and Dr. Mahn has European vibes from the exterior alone, so a lot of people were taking photos at the entrance. It's right by the Bukhan River, so it's great for a walk after coffee too — I'd really recommend it if you're doing a day trip to Namyangju. It was even better in person than in photos.. ✨
I drove there, and even while parking I was already amazed by the Bukhan River view from the parking lot. The weather was so nice too, and the sunlight sparkling on the water was pretty, and pretty, and pretty.. 🥹☀️
And what made it even better — the classical music playing throughout the café. It suited the space so well that I stood outside recording it on video for a while. Click the video and watch it with the music - 🎶

Outdoor terrace or window seat: where to sit for the river view
There are outdoor terrace seats too, so in this breezy autumn weather, sipping coffee with the wind blowing gently — this is real healing .. ✨ It genuinely felt like my eyes were being cleansed.
The indoor window seats also have floor-to-ceiling windows, so the view is amazing no matter where you sit.. The tablecloths on every table match the space perfectly and feel very atmospheric. It has that European vintage restaurant vibe, so whether you come with friends, a partner, or your parents, everyone would be satisfied 🍒♬
26 kinds of coffee beans on the Waltz and Dr. Mahn menu

When I sat down and opened the menu, the variety was really impressive for a proper coffee specialty shop. Seeing 26 different coffee menu items in particular made me think Waltz and Dr. Mahn is truly serious about coffee. Each bean's characteristics are written out, so even people who don't know much about coffee can read the descriptions and choose easily — I'm pretty clueless about coffee myself, so I got a recommendation for something with no acidity, haha. Besides coffee, they also had fruit juices, beer, and drinks like flashy-looking parfaits.
What we ordered at Waltz and Dr. Mahn, and what it cost

- Jamaica Blue Mountain hand drip ₩20,000
- Honor and Chevalier parfait ₩18,000
- Opera cake ₩9,000
At first I thought the prices were expensive, but once I actually tried everything, the taste was so good and the staff's service was great too. The interior, the Bukhan River view, and the staff service all made me feel like I was at a hotel fine dining spot, so I didn't think it was expensive at all! Even my mom, who's famously picky, was very satisfied 👩🏻🦳🤍
And the music selection was perfect too — it was nice just to sit there spacing out looking at the Bukhan River. The vibe was different at every seat, so I wanted to come back and spend more time here!

Opera cake with Jamaica Blue Mountain drip coffee
I picked opera cake as the dessert to go with my coffee. The rich chocolate and coffee flavor felt luxurious and paired well with the drip coffee ☕🍰 Usually large cafés are crowded and noisy and overwhelming, but even though Waltz and Dr. Mahn was busy, everyone was quietly enjoying the music, which made it the perfect place for a big-letter introvert like me 🥹 Sweet cake, delicious coffee, and the Bukhan River view.. isn't this what real happiness looks like ♡
How Waltz and Dr. Mahn compares with other big Bukhan River cafés
I've been to a few other large cafés with Bukhan River views in Namyangju, but Waltz and Dr. Mahn wasn't just about the view — the coffee and the friendly service were both perfect too, making it a truly healing space 🍀
If you're planning a day trip to Namyangju, I really recommend visiting Waltz and Dr. Mahn 🖤 I'm definitely planning to go back!! I bet it'd be pretty on snowy or rainy days too ⛄☂️
