In short
Yeum Hair Nowon District Office branch is a hair salon on the second floor of the Starbucks building right in front of Nowon District Office in Seoul. Senior designer Jiyoon did a near-black 3-level tone-down dye with an ash-mixed color that cancels red tones, plus a layered cut with side bangs, and the result matched the consultation exactly. I went to Yeum Hair in front of Nowon District Office for a tone-down dye and a layered cut.

I was so sick of constantly doing root touch-ups, so I took this chance to dye it a dark brown close to black! I booked with senior designer Jiyoon and headed over 😊

Where is Yeum Hair Nowon District Office branch, and what is the salon like?
Yeum Hair Nowon District Office branch is on the 2nd floor of the Starbucks building right in front of the main gate of Nowon District Office. Coming out of Exit 7 at Nowon Station, you can get there in under 5 minutes! 👍 It sits between Nowon Station and the district office, so it was really easy to find by public transit.

The first thing I noticed walking in was how spotlessly clean and well-kept the salon was. The floor-to-ceiling windows let sunlight pour in, so it felt open and never stuffy. The signage at the entrance was clean too, so it wasn't hard to find.
Welcome service at Yeum Hair: snack basket and drinks
From the waiting time through the whole dye process, they kept bringing snacks and drinks, so I never got bored waiting.

- Snack basket: set out so you can freely pick and eat
- Drinks: they brought iced coffee plus cookies too

It's a small thing, but having that kind of thoughtfulness definitely made me feel more at ease during the service. The gowns you wear before the treatment being individually packaged in pouches was really impressive! Seeing that other people's used gowns were kept neatly organized gave me trust and felt especially hygienic.

Scalp protector applied before the tone-down dye
Before starting the dye, they carefully applied a protector to my scalp. I always worry about the dye touching my scalp directly and irritating it, so having this step taken care of put my mind at ease.
Designer Jiyoon's 3-level tone-down dye and layered cut
Designer Jiyoon's hands were really fast. I could feel there was no wasted motion the whole time she was cutting! For the layered cut, she didn't thin out the hair too much and gave it natural layers, so it kept its shape even with just a blow-dry.
She cut my side bangs exactly the way I wanted, and on top of that, she cut the face-framing pieces so skillfully that the layered cut and bangs flowed together naturally, keeping everything neat and pretty even when I tied my hair up~!!
The tone-down color I wanted also came out exactly as we'd discussed in the consultation. She explained what stage we were at and how long things would take throughout, which I appreciated.

Shampoo and hair care at Yeum Hair
After the dye, designer Chaemin did the shampoo, and her hand pressure was so good that my scalp felt genuinely refreshed. This was the first time I've felt this satisfied by just a shampoo haha.
She also kindly explained whether any dye had gotten on my scalp, which parts were dyed and how long it would take to fade, all while carefully adjusting the water temperature. I noticed the shampoo area is split into two rooms, and both were clean and cozy.
How the near-black dye and layered styling turned out

Checking in the mirror right after the dye, the tone-down color came out exactly the way I wanted.

My hair always tends to pick up red tones, and without me even mentioning it, she used a dye mixed with ash tones, which caught the red and gave me a chic, clean color.

At first it looks strongly black, but as time passes and the color fades a bit, I think it'll settle into a more natural shade that lasts a long time! She kindly explained that the color I got was about a 3-level dark shade.
I liked it so much I took a bunch of photos! I'd worried that going dark would look too heavy, but with a good length and a well-judged cut, it actually looks a lot shinier and fresher, which made me really happy.

Honest review of Yeum Hair: pros and things to note
Let me sum up the pros and cons.

- Things to note: You need to book ahead to get the service you want right away. Because the meticulous work takes time, I'd recommend allowing 2–3 hours
