Adult electric-wristband laser tag in Busan: Laser Tag Sports Seomyeon

Last weekend I went out to Seomyeon for some activities, and it felt like a waste to just do one and go home, you know? So I headed to Laser Tag Sports Seomyeon! I'd already done laser tag before, and I'm actually pretty good at it, so I was kind of excited walking in, haha.

Where is Laser Tag Sports Seomyeon, and what are its hours?

Laser Tag Sports Seomyeon is at 39 Jungang-daero 692beon-gil, Busanjin-gu, Busan, on the 2nd floor of Artbox. Hours are weekdays 13:00–22:00, weekends and holidays 11:00–22:00, and Naver reservations are possible but not required. The stairs aren't steep so you can just walk up.

How long do 2 games take, and how much do they cost?

Laser Tag Sports Seomyeon runs 2 games in 30 minutes. The time goes by faster than you'd think.

• 2 games - Basic ₩15,000, Adult ₩22,000
• 3 games - Basic ₩21,000, Adult ₩30,000
• 4 games - Basic ₩25,000, Adult ₩35,000

With the basic 2-game set you play single-shot mode and rapid-fire mode. The mode is fixed depending on how many games you play, and you can't switch to sniper mode.

What makes the adult gun and electric wristband different?

The adult version comes with an electric wristband that gives you a zap when you're hit, plus a magazine-loading gun. The basic version has no wristband, and reloading is just one button press.

I figured it would hurt, so I had my younger brother try the adult version, haha, and he said it was like an 'unpleasant pinch.' I'd read reviews before going in, and apparently some people hated the shocks so much they spent the game dodging rather than shooting, lol. But they said you can take the wristband off partway through if you want, and my brother did end up removing his. And even though he did his military service, he said he'd much rather just click a button — swapping magazines in and out every time he ran out of bullets was annoying, lol. We just laughed it off like, well, guess it felt like training again for a while.

How does the Naver Reservation deposit work?

If you book through Naver, a ₩5,000 per-person deposit is charged. This deposit can't be paid by card — only through Naver Pay cash payment. Once you arrive at Laser Tag Sports, it's immediately refunded in full back into your Naver Pay balance. Then you pay on-site before going in. It also seemed like you could just walk in without a reservation if there were open slots. If you finish the games you originally paid for and want to keep playing, you can add more for ₩7,000 (basic) or ₩10,000 (adult).

You put your stuff in a locker and set a passcode. One representative fills out the waiver via a QR code.

How do you shoot the laser tag gun?

Even the basic gun at Laser Tag Sports is pretty heavy. It's not the kind where you have to grip a sensor on the front to fire like at other laser tag places, but it's heavy enough that you end up holding it with both hands anyway. Still, even a kid who looked about first grade managed to hold and shoot it fine, lol.

At Laser Tag Sports you have to aim through a scope. Instead of a laser coming out like at other places, you fire when the other player's sniper point appears in your gun's scope. When you land a hit, the gun makes a sound — and that thrill, hahaha (sniper points: the head, front of the gun — they light up with LEDs).

The game rules at Laser Tag Sports Seomyeon

The rules are explained through an AI-narrated video. My sister and I had done this before so we listened closely, but it seemed like the other people watching found the explanation too fast to really catch the rules. Still, they said we could ask if anything was unclear, so I asked about everything, and ended up taking first place in both the first and second rounds, lol.

How dark is the arena inside?

Even after the game started, the inside of Laser Tag Sports Seomyeon wasn't dark. There was a really young girl playing too, and it was nice that you could clearly see whether she'd fallen or not.

In the first round (single-shot mode) you couldn't cross into the opposing team's territory, but in the second round (rapid-fire mode) the range was a bit wider. Each team has a heal point, and it seemed like there were zones you couldn't cross into so the other team couldn't camp there and prevent you from reviving. But our opponents were all clearly introverts, since they didn't move at all and never came toward the center, so it was basically just shooting from where I stood, lol.

Picking teams and how the matches ended

For the first round, since the other team had a kid and a student on it, we asked to be grouped by family.

But our team ended up with two laser tag veterans, one guy who'd finished his military service, and one very athletic person, so it ended 29 to 0 — after that, with everyone's agreement, we mixed the teams for the second round.

Even after mixing, and even with a little kid on our team, my military-service teammate and I (laser tag veteran) carried and won by a landslide, haha. Your ID shows up on the gun — Alpha is me, hahaha. MVP of both games? That's me!

After we finished, we stuck around and watched the other team's game too — it was spectacular and everyone was so intense, haha.
