Today I visited Sasaenghwal, famous in Dongnae as a Western food spot. I found it while searching for good pasta in Dongnae — I'd heard it's always busy, so I went during lunchtime to check it out myself. From pasta to a variety of Western dishes, here's my honest review of Sasaenghwal.

Sasaenghwal 🍝🍕

Where is Sasaenghwal? An 8-minute walk from Dongnae Station, with parking
Sasaenghwal is about an 8-minute walk from Dongnae Station, so it was easy to reach by public transit too. It's near a market, so the area has that typical market vibe, but the restaurant itself sits on the 2nd floor of a building with a completely different feel.
🚩202 Yeogobuk-ro, Dongnae-gu, Busan, South Korea [1 hour free parking] — if you're driving, I'd recommend checking the parking lot location before you go.

Inside Sasaenghwal: bar seats for solo diners and tables for six
Climbing the stairs up to the interior, the atmosphere was better than I expected. The wine bottles displayed here and there quietly caught my eye too...
Inside there's a bar table, so it looked comfortable for solo diners, plus tables for 4 to 6 people, good for groups too. The tables are spaced fairly wide apart and the overall vibe is relaxed, making it a nice place to eat. Customers kept coming in during lunchtime, so I was glad I'd made a reservation...

Sasaenghwal menu and how to order by QR code
The menu ranges from pasta, pizza, and risotto to sides, drinks, and coffee — enough variety to cover everything from brunch to a full meal. At first I wasn't sure what to pick since there was so much, but the signature dishes were clearly marked, which made choosing easy haha.

Ordering was easy too — you just scan the QR code at your table.

The basic side is house-made pickles. Water and pickle refills are self-serve.

And here comes a dish that looks delicious from the visual alone.

Sea Village Pasta, 17,900 won: clams, shrimp and seaweed
The Sea Village Pasta is one of Sasaenghwal's signature pasta dishes, made with fresh clams, shrimp, and seaweed. It costs ₩17,900.

Mix the noodles and sauce evenly first, then eat with the clams. The clams were well cleaned of grit with no fishy taste, and had great savoriness.

There was a slight spiciness, so it barely had that oil-base heaviness, and the flavor from the clams blended well with the sauce.

The clams were more generous than I expected, and the noodles had a springy texture that went well with the sauce. The shrimp were nice and plump too.

Not fishy and not overpoweringly seafood-scented, so it's an easy, well-balanced pasta to eat. Most of all, the sauce was delicious — coating the noodles generously with it made every bite great.

4-Katsu Platter, 20,900 won: tenderloin, loin, cheese and Scotch katsu
The 4-Katsu Platter is ₩20,900, beautifully plated on a wooden board with tenderloin katsu, ribeye katsu, cheese katsu, and even a Scotch katsu with a soft-boiled egg inside. It came with salad and two kinds of sauce, so it was great 👍 for sharing different flavors.

The meat wasn't dry — it was moist, with a nutty flavor and no off odor. The coating was thin too!

The Scotch katsu in particular had black sesame seeds in the filling, so the nutty flavor came through more the more you chewed. Dipping it in the tangy salsa sauce cut through the richness, and I kept reaching for more.

Is there a lunch wait at Sasaenghwal? Final thoughts
I visited during lunchtime, but since I'd reserved ahead there was no wait. Still, watching customers keep coming in while I ate, it seemed like a lot of people in Dongnae come here looking for pasta or other Western food.
The atmosphere was nice and the menu options were varied, so I'd like to try other dishes next time. If you're looking for a place to eat pasta in Dongnae, Sasaenghwal is a Dongnae restaurant worth visiting at least once. Thanks for the meal today :)
