Seongsu dessert café free chocolate drink and lime madeleine: Notldun

In short

Notldun is a dessert café on Seoul Forest 2-gil in Seongsu, Seoul. On a repeat visit to Notldun, the order was the Guanaja 40 cake at 18,000 won and four madeleine flavors — lime, Earl Grey, vanilla and pistachio — at 4,500 won each, plus one free chocolate drink from the Valrhona chocolate event. The madeleines came out moister than on the last visit, the lime madeleine was the clear favorite, and Notldun is worth going back to.

There's a spot I always stop by when I'm in Seongsu — Notldun, haha. I fell completely in love with the Signature Noir cake there before, and had been dying to go back, so this time I decided to try all four madeleine flavors!

Since it was a repeat visit, I ordered without holding back. The madeleines were a bit disappointing last time, so I wanted to try different flavors this round. Here's my honest review ✨

How to get to Notldun in Seongsu

Notldun is at 1st floor, 11 Seoul Forest 2-gil, just a short walk from the station, so it's easy to reach by subway, haha. It's the perfect spot if you want to combine a stroll through the Seongsu alleys with dessert.

Seongsu has so many hot spots already, so having a meal and then adding Notldun as your dessert stop makes for the perfect Seongsu dessert café one-day course, haha.

On this visit, the Guanaja 40 I ordered was ₩18,000, and the madeleines were ₩4,500 each by flavor. Cakes and madeleines are displayed together in the showcase, so it's easy to pick while checking the menu board alongside it.

Inside Notldun: interior and how many seats

The store has a white base with wood accents, giving it a simple, clean mood. There are table seats, so you can eat in as well as take out, but there aren't that many seats, so takeout is recommended during busy hours.

Apparently the name Notldun itself means "our gift." The showcase has madeleines and cakes lined up in a row, and browsing them is genuinely fun — a dessert shop showcase is always exciting, haha.

What we ordered: Guanaja 40 cake and the free Valrhona chocolate drink

  • Guanaja 40 — ₩18,000
  • 🎁 Valrhona chocolate event — 1 free chocolate drink!
  • Madeleines (lime, Earl Grey, vanilla, pistachio) — ₩4,500 each

Thanks to the Valrhona event, I got a free chocolate drink on the house, which was such a steal, haha. If you're a chocolate lover, this event is a must!

Notldun madeleines: lime, Earl Grey, vanilla and pistachio compared

1. Lime madeleine — refreshing from the look of the lime zest sprinkled on top. One bite and the citrus aroma bursts through. The zing that cuts through the richness is great, haha. Personally my top pick out of the four!

2. Earl Grey madeleine — a subtle Earl Grey aroma runs through it. The tea leaves you can actually chew are a nice touch. Not too strong, just the right balance.

3. Vanilla madeleine — the most classic flavor. The texture of the vanilla bean you can bite into is really something. Simple but rich and nutty. It's almost unfair for the basic flavor to taste this good, haha.

4. Pistachio madeleine — loaded with pistachio crunch. Every bite bursts with nuttiness. The pairing with the Guanaja is absolutely insane, seriously. Chocolate + pistachio combos never fail.

Each madeleine is ₩4,500, but they're a decent size and you can tell the ingredients aren't skimped on. Even if the per-piece price feels a bit much, it's worth trying at least once, haha.

Is Notldun worth a repeat visit?

Last time I mostly focused on cake, but this time was a moment of rediscovering the madeleines. They definitely seemed moister than before, and all four flavors had their own character, making it fun to pick and choose.

If you love the deep, rich taste of Valrhona chocolate, the Guanaja will absolutely be your thing. Getting a free drink from the Valrhona event made it a great value day too, haha.

If you're looking for a good dessert café in Seongsu, I highly recommend Notldun, where you can enjoy cake, madeleines, and a chocolate drink all in one go. It's also perfect for a Seongsu date course. Next time I plan to try the Signature Blanc, which I haven't had yet, haha.
