Jungnang Station burger takeout: spicy mayo chicken burger at Daroa

Today I'm introducing a new favorite spot I completely fell for. This is my takeout review of Daroa Dongbu Market Branch, tucked inside Dongbu Market — it's not well known yet, and I was honestly surprised a hidden gem like this existed 😊

What is Daroa Dongbu Market Branch? Burgers, chicken, bakery and groceries in one shop

Daroa Dongbu Market Branch isn't a typical chicken or burger shop — it sells burgers and chicken while also running a bakery and grocery section all in one space. It's right on the main intersection you see as soon as you walk into Dongbu Market, so it was easy to find!

There's one outdoor table outside where you can wait or eat right away, and model displays of what look like the signature menu items, so even first-time visitors can figure out the menu easily. The displayed items definitely feel like the signature picks!

Ready meals in store and the 10 breads for 10,000 won deal

Inside Daroa Dongbu Market Branch they sell everything from olive oil to drinks to ready meals like bone soup and beef brisket doenjang rice, and the prices were surprisingly cheap.

On the other side there's fruit sherbet, snacks, and nationally loved breads like red bean bread, gukhwappang (chrysanthemum-shaped bread), cream bread and soboro (crumble bread), all neatly individually wrapped and displayed.

There was a bread event running too — 10 pieces for just ₩10,000, which is ₩1,000 each — and looking at the quality, it felt like a waste to just walk past. I told myself I'd definitely buy some bread next time.

You can pick burgers and chicken menu items from the board outside the store, and the prices are really reasonable. Items are available à la carte, and if you order a set it comes with one side and a drink — great value!

The prices were kind, and the owner and staff were really friendly. It felt like they knew every single customer personally, and you could sense in the atmosphere why locals keep coming back.

Spicy mayo chicken: boneless chicken with candied sweet potato

🍗 Spicy mayo chicken | boneless chicken paired with candied sweet potato. I was really tempted by the Irouon kadayif shrimp & chicken that a lot of other customers seemed to be ordering, but since I was already posting, I picked the spicy mayo chicken to introduce a different menu item haha. When I opened it up at home, the portion was seriously generous!

It's a combo of candied sweet potato and boneless fried chicken, and this pairing works far better than you'd expect. The sweetness of the candied sweet potato meeting the chicken is addictive, and the boneless chicken itself was fried nice and crispy — nothing to be embarrassed about compared to regular franchise chicken. My husband and I ate it for dinner together, and even though the portion was generous enough to fill us up, there was of course a lot left over.

How do the spicy mayo chicken burger and egg cheese bulgogi burger taste?

🍔 Spicy mayo chicken burger & egg cheese bulgogi burger. I also brought home two kinds of burgers — when I opened them up, they were really generously packed with cabbage, so each bite had a crunchy texture, and overall it tasted rich and satisfying.

The egg cheese bulgogi burger had a bulgogi patty plus egg for a filling combination, and the spicy mayo chicken burger had a spicy mayo sauce that paired so well with the chicken that I kept eating it without stopping. Given today's prices, this combination was more than reasonable, and it tasted even better than expected.

Dubai chewy ball cookie: a free gift from the owner

🍪 Dubai chewy ball cookie | the owner's surprise gift. As I was paying and finishing up my order, the owner slipped in a Dubai chewy ball cookie for free. Since Dubai chocolate is such a big trend these days, it was a cookie with a chewy texture baked into the dough, and little touches of service like this really lift your mood. I finished packing up feeling great, and when I ate it back home, the taste also passed the test!

In an era of high prices like this, getting this much quantity and flavor at this price felt like the ultimate in value. It's also refreshing that it's a combined shop where you can handle burgers, chicken, bread and ready meals all in one place, and with the owner's kindness added on top, it feels like a place you'd become a regular at after just one visit. There aren't many branches yet, which might be a shame if there isn't one near you — honestly I wish there was one near my own house too ㅜㅜ The menu lineup is also great for eating with kids, so if you're near Jungnang-gu or Dongbu Market, definitely stop by once! My intent to revisit is 200% 🙌
