Yongsan ramen restaurant before a screening: Menya Seoul

The day I headed to Yongsan after work. The weather has been so lovely lately now that it’s autumn. I arrived in Yongsan right at peak sunset time after work. Autumn skies are so pretty.

I'Park Mall ramen favorite :: Menya Seoul

A simple(?) ramen dinner before the screening

Even Geumgangsan comes after a meal. We were starving after coming straight from work, and since we had to watch the screening and get home late, we came for a simple(?) dinner. We went straight to Menya Seoul, famous for ramen at Yongsan I'Park Mall.

Open daily from 11:00 to 21:00, with last orders at 20:50.

Menya Seoul Yongsan I'Park Mall Branch is a ramen specialty restaurant on the 7th floor of I'Park Mall near Exit 2 of Yongsan Station! Yongsan I'Park Mall is huge, and I think it was over by the Tasting Mall area?

Menya Seoul is a chain known for good ramen. In Yongsan, there is the Yongsan main branch as well as the I'Park Mall branch. Their dongpo pork ramen and karaage are famous, and the gyoza are tasty too! With a set, you can choose one of a small karaage rice bowl, karaage, or gyoza, and you get a soft drink too. They have Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, Pororo drinks, and sparkling water, so it’s also nice when you visit with kids haha. Good!

There’s an explanation of the ingredients that go into Menya Seoul’s ramen. There are 100 grams of dongpo pork, 25 ingredients in the broth ramen, and even ajitama (seasoned soft-boiled egg) aged in a special sauce for 48 hours.

Menya Seoul has counter seats attached to the restaurant, plus table seating in a shared food-court-style area. The tables are probably more comfortable, right?

So, as I mentioned, these are the table seats where we sat. There’s plenty of space between seats, so they’re comfortable. They let you know when the food is ready with a vibrating pager, which is great!

Karaage rice bowl and crisp gyoza

The large karaage rice bowl we ordered. Topping the fried chicken with katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes) makes it even tastier, doesn’t it?

And you know gyoza are the best with ramen, right? I really love dumplings, and the gyoza here are delicious too. They fry them fresh, so they’re crispy and so good. Suddenly, I remember being so disappointed earlier this year when I went to a ramen shop in Tokyo and couldn’t have gyoza because they were sold out... I think dumplings over karaage with ramen, no question. But~? Karaage is great too haha.

Spicy ramen with jambon beurre

Also, since I like spicy food, I chose the spicy ramen, and the combination of dongpo pork + soft-boiled egg + jambon beurre + ramen was so good. What makes Menya Seoul special is that it puts jambon beurre in its ramen, and it was really tasty?

We had a light, delicious meal and really enjoyed it haha. I especially love bean sprouts, and Menya Seoul’s ramen has lots of them, plus kelp? It was so tasty. There was just the right amount of dongpo pork too—not too much and not disappointingly little—and it left me comfortably full.

We chatted while eating, and before we knew it, we’d finished every last bit. I’d come back again next time! Once you’re done, return your dishes to the tray-return station!
