Paju home-style Korean meal with doenjang jjigae: Eomma-ui Ttuksim

In short

Eomma-ui Ttuksim is a home-style Korean set-meal restaurant on Songhak 1-gil in Yadang, Paju, Gyeonggi. For the signature Ttuksim table, we chose doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) as the stew and bossam (boiled pork wraps) as the main, and it arrived with 8 side dishes and black rice: the bossam was mild and clean with no gamy smell, and the stew was deeply savoury and packed with ingredients. Parking sits right in front of Eomma-ui Ttuksim, so it is an easy stop by car for a full table made with real care.

The menu and what comes with the Ttuksim table

Eomma-ui Ttuksim sells a variety of set-meal tables that catch your appetite.

  • Ttuksim table
  • Bossam table
  • Jjukkumi table
  • Pork bulgogi table
  • Ttuksim jjukkumi table
  • Gochujang pork bulgogi table

That day, we picked the signature composition, the Ttuksim table. It comes with stew + pork bulgogi + bossam or kodari (braised pollock). For the stew, you can choose between the savory doenjang jjigae and rich cheonggukjang! We went with bossam for the main and doenjang jjigae for the stew.

After ordering, I went looking for spoons and chopsticks and found them individually wrapped in paper in a cabinet next to the table! Hygienic and neat : )

Doenjang jjigae pot served first

How was the doenjang jjigae?

The dishes came out one by one, and the stew was set down first. The doenjang jjigae arrived in a pot full to the brim, and the look of it alone made my mouth water.

The broth was rich and the ingredients so plentiful that you could easily finish a whole bowl of rice with it — a true rice thief.

The 8 side dishes

The side dishes that followed were amazing too! Stir-fried fish cake, crispy and savory kimchi jeon (kimchi pancake), chewy acorn jelly, well-textured stir-fried eggplant, crunchy cucumber and pepper salad, sweet and tangy radish salad, refreshing yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi), and fresh wrap vegetables!

Every single one was neat and deeply seasoned with real skill — it truly felt like eating a heartfelt home-cooked meal made by my own mother.

A glossy plate of bossam

How was the bossam?

The bossam had a glossy shine that caught my eye right away.

Bossam pork served as the main of the Ttuksim table

Bossam is easy to overcook into something dry, or leave with that distinct gamy pork smell, but this place's bossam had zero gamy smell — just clean, savory flavor all the way through!

Bossam pork and kimchi wrapped in cabbage leaf

It's tasty just picked up and dipped in salted shrimp, but piling the tender bossam meat onto fresh, crunchy cabbage leaves with spicy kimchi and ssamjang (dipping sauce) for one big wrap was an absolutely perfect match! So good : )

Pork bulgogi and black rice

The pork bulgogi was also free of any gamy smell, with a salty, savory seasoning worked well into every bite.

A chopstick-full of pork bulgogi

It had a crowd-pleasing yet deep flavor that anyone, young or old, would love — a genuine rice thief!

Chewy black rice served as the rice option

On top of that, the rice served wasn't plain white rice but healthy, chewy black rice, so I could enjoy it deliciously down to the very last spoonful!

It was so, so good that I finished everything without leaving a single bite : )
