If you're planning a special anniversary or a romantic date, let me recommend Hado — here's my review after trying the basic course! I often visit Haenggung-dong in Suwon, and the way the fortress walls of Suwon Hwaseong blend with the alleyway charm always makes the neighborhood feel exciting.
Where is Hado, and how does the free parking work?
Hado is on Hyanggyo-ro in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. Suwon Station is technically the nearest station, but it's still a bit of a walk, so I'd recommend driving. There's a parking lot right next to the restaurant, and you get one hour free when you eat there. So I'd definitely suggest bringing your car for a relaxed meal!

What are the interior and seating like at Hado?
Hado has an overall modern, calm black-toned interior with soft lighting, creating a cozy yet private mood. I get why it's such a popular date spot in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. Tables seat anywhere from two to four, so it's a favorite with couples and families alike.

Hado also offers a service where you can request songs to play, which makes date night feel even more romantic. There are bar seats too, positioned right at the open kitchen. Isn't there something special about sitting at the bar in a restaurant with this kind of atmosphere, watching the chefs cook while tasting each course dish one by one?

The interior of Hado, this well-known course-dining spot, is decorated in this kind of mood throughout. It's romantic yet sophisticated, so it's perfect for a date on an anniversary or a special occasion. Sure enough, couples kept walking in the whole time we were eating.
Hado's course options and prices
Hado's course menu introduction

Since Hado specializes in course dining, there are two options: the basic course (₩45,000) and the summer course (₩69,000). Compared to the basic course, the summer course has more items overall — more salad, soup, and dessert dishes.

Appetizers: pea tart and sweet shrimp apple tart
We ordered the basic course, and it began with a pea tart and a sweet shrimp apple tart as appetizers. Perfect for whetting the appetite before the main pasta and steak.

Pasta choice: squid ink and bisque, shared between two
For each course you can also choose your pasta — if you don't change it, you get the minari (dropwort) yuzu bisque pasta by default. We decided to switch it up and each order a different pasta, squid ink and bisque, to share.

I read through pretty much every Hado review out there, and the bisque pasta in particular has a reputation for its deep, rich flavor, so I chose that. The squid ink pasta had me curious about both the look and the taste, so we ordered that one too.

The black ink sauce coated the noodles thickly, and the noodles were cooked just right — the salty seafood flavor spread nicely through my mouth. That distinctive creamy yet hearty umami of squid ink was deeply infused into the sauce, and it was genuinely delicious! The toppings were small pieces of squid too, tender rather than chewy, which made them easy to eat alongside the pasta.

Then we tried the popular bisque pasta, flavored with a bisque sauce made by roasting and richly simmering crustacean heads and shells. As someone who loves the deep, rich aroma of shrimp or lobster, this was the dish I was most excited about the moment I spotted it on the menu. The nutty aroma of butter balanced with a subtle spiciness — totally recommend it!

How was Hado's chicken breast steak main?
Once we finished the pasta, the main dish came out — chicken breast steak. This wasn't the dry, chalky chicken breast you usually get; it was moist and tender like thigh meat, full of juice.

The outside was golden and crisp, while the inside held onto its moisture, making the meat so tender!? And the carrot sauce on top was seriously good...

Dessert finish: Earl Grey ice cream
After the meal, they bring out Earl Grey ice cream, and it's honestly really good... The Earl Grey aroma comes through subtly, and eating it with the crumble underneath maximizes the flavor! The cookie on top wasn't too sweet either and tasted great.

And finally, they even give you mouthwash at the end — such a nice touch. If you're looking for a course-dining restaurant in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, I'd recommend Hado for a date :)
