Wedding photo long-hair trim at ONLY FOR YOU, Yongsan hair salon
In short
ONLY FOR YOU Hannam Main Branch is a hair salon in Yongsan, Seoul, for refining the silhouette of long hair. Before a wedding photo shoot, I kept nearly all my length while trimming damaged, heavy ends without adding more layers. Verdict: a satisfying choice for tidying long hair while preserving its length.

With less than a month until my wedding photo shoot, my hair was looking messy… But I felt like I’d regret cutting the length before the shootㅠㅠ I wondered, “Could I make it look a little neater while keeping the length the same?” That’s how I ended up at ONLY FOR YOU Hannam Main Branch (온리포유 한남본점) in Hannam-dong. What especially stayed with me was that, rather than automatically doing the style I wanted from the start, they first looked at the current condition of my hair and talked it through with me.

You can spot the OFY ONLY FOR YOU HAIR sign from outside the building, then just head up to the third floor!!
A spacious, comfortable salon atmosphere

Once I went inside, it was more spacious than I expected. It was neatly decorated in white and beige tones, and the seats were spaced far enough apart that I could get my hair done comfortably.

The waiting sofa area also has snacks and Wi-Fi for guests.

In particular, the service prices at ONLY FOR YOU seemed reasonable, too. Even though it’s a Hannam-dong hair salon, the prices were affordable and the service was good, so it made me want to come back often.

There was also separate information on the wall about first-visit benefits and memberships. The membership discount increases with the amount you spend, so if you visit often, a membership might be a good idea!!!
A cut consultation that started by assessing my long hair
My stylist

The person who did my hair this time was stylist Daewoong (대웅). He took one look at my hair, immediately told me how he thought it would be best to cut it, and cut it so well—I recommend him!!

The biggest reason I looked for a hair salon in Hannam-dong this time was that my wedding photo shoot was less than a month away. I absolutely did not want to lose any length, but my hair looked a little messy overall, so at first I said, “I want to keep the length and just get a layered cut.”

But after looking at my hair, Daewoong explained that it already had layers at the top, so adding more layers could actually keep the style from looking its best and make it harder to maintain day to day. Honestly, I thought that once I told him the style I wanted, he would simply start cutting it that way. But hearing him say that it would be better not to cut more than necessary right now actually made me trust him more. So I asked how it would be best to tidy it up, and we decided to lightly refine the heavy areas overall and focus on trimming the damaged, messy-looking ends.

One thing I personally found a little surprising! At some salons I’ve visited, a women’s cut is finished right away without shampooing, but at ONLY FOR YOU they first did the overall cut, then shampooed my hair → gave it a quick blow-dry → and did a detailed final cut and styling once more. They also didn’t just gloss over my part; they asked which direction I normally part my hair. I asked, “Would it be okay to part it opposite to the way I usually do?” and he directly checked my hair texture and the direction my hair naturally falls, then told me which direction suited me better. Asking about and tailoring even these little details made it feel like more than just cutting my hair shorter—it felt like getting my hair refined to suit me.
The result: keeping the length and refining just the ends

When it was finished and I looked in the mirror, it was exactly the feeling I had wanted! The length was kept almost the same, but the overall silhouette looked much neater than before, and once the heavy-looking sections were tidied up, my hair fell naturally. What I especially liked was that we didn’t create unnecessary extra layers.
I learned this time that a layered cut does not always mean adding lots of layers; even simply refining the parts that need it after looking at the existing condition of the hair can change the whole feel. My length was truly precious because of the wedding photo shoot😂 I was happy that we could tidy up the messy areas without really touching the length!!!
If you’re considering extra layers
If, like me, you’re wondering, “I want a layered cut, but is it okay to cut more right now?” I think it can be a good idea to get a consultation on your current hair condition first, rather than only bringing photos of what you want. My cut went in a slightly different direction from what I first had in mind, but I liked the result even more because only the parts my hair needed were refined. Hair prep before the wedding photo shoot: success! 🤍
