Suwon Haengridan-gil café after a fortress wall walk: Jeong Ji-young

Came to Hwaseong Fortress on a date with my boyfriend~ If you're at Hwaseong Fortress you have to stop by Haenggung-dong, but we wandered around so much that the weather got way too hot and a coffee transfusion became essential~ So~~ I visited Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch, a famous café on Haengridan-gil. Here's my review after falling in love with their patented coconut coffee~!

Where is Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch, and what are its hours?

Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch is at 42 Sinpung-ro, Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, inside Haengridan-gil. Hours are 11:00–22:00, it's a no-kids zone (entry restricted for children under middle-school age), and there's nearby public parking.

Located within Haengridan-gil, Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch is a large standalone roastery café building in Haenggung-dong.

Parking at Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters, or walking the Hwaseong Fortress wall instead

There's a public parking lot right beside the building. It's free during open hours. Open hours are 08:00–18:00, and after 18:00 residents-priority parking applies, so keep that in mind. I parked at a public lot near Hwaseong Fortress and walked over on foot along the fortress wall.

Floor-by-floor layout and how ordering works in the B1 level

At Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch, ordering, payment, and pickup all happen on B1. They've sold 1.11 million cups, and their patented coconut coffee is the signature drink. Had to order it today, no question! B1 – order, 1F – roasting room, 2F – seating, 3F – academy, 4F – seating, 5F – rooftop.

Since it's a roastery café, I loved that there was a wide choice of beans for the Americano. There's also hand-drip coffee! Alongside coffee, the menu is cleanly put together with no fuss.

Plenty of cookies and cakes on sale, great to pair with coffee or a drink!

There were also a lot of eye-catching goods for sale~ After waiting and picking up, we headed upstairs to eat in.

They happened to be roasting, so we got to watch the beans roast. Bonus: that nutty aroma of the beans!

Group seating is possible here too, and the space is divided up so you can chat comfortably. The temperature was high that day though, so it felt a bit hot, and we headed further up! 3F is the academy, so pass!haha Up another floor~

4F: the quiet floor for studying or working

There are big tables, perfect for studying too.

The AC was nice and cool and the quiet atmosphere made it great for resting. Our pick: 4F!

What we ordered: coconut 7,000 won and honey black grapefruit tea 6,500 won

At Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch we ordered the signature coconut for ₩7,000 and the honey black grapefruit tea for ₩6,500. We'd been wandering around so much that a sugar recharge was urgently needed for both of us.

They gave it to us in a cute paper tray, which felt stable and nice to carry.

Honey black grapefruit tea: sweet with a bitter edge

A rich black tea flavor with the fresh, subtle bitterness unique to grapefruit added in. The sweetness of the honey softens the grapefruit's bitter edge nicely, so it was clean yet refreshing to drink.

The signature coconut: soft, sweet and patented

Just stir the soft coconut cream in well before drinking. The nutty, subtle sweetness unique to coconut is layered with the deep bitterness of a strong espresso, and the balance of sweet and bitter was great. Combined with the soft cream, it felt like drinking a nutty, smooth coconut latte! The coconut aroma didn't overpower it, so it was easy to enjoy without feeling heavy.

For returns, you don't need to go back down — you can just leave your tray in the designated spot, which is convenient.

Is Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch worth a visit?

At Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch, I tried the signature coconut coffee and the honey black grapefruit tea. It was nice to be able to taste two drinks with such different appeal. I also liked the quiet, cozy interior, which made it a great place to relax in Haenggung-dong.
