Suwon café with mirror photo zone, vanilla bean latte: Caffeine Focus
In short
Caffeine Focus is a fortress-view café in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, just off the main strip and filling an entire three-story building next to the Hwaseong Fortress wall. A mirror photo zone by the entrance frames the fortress wall behind you, and at a floor-to-ceiling window on the third floor I had an Americano, a vanilla bean latte and a vanilla bean Basque cheesecake. For a quiet look at the Hwaseong Fortress wall, the third-floor window seats at Caffeine Focus are the ones to take.

There are so many great cafés in Haenggung-dong, but it's rare to find one where you can take in the fortress wall and a green hillside all in one view through the window. This time I visited Caffeine Focus, a view-focused café with a perfect view of the Hwaseong Fortress wall through its floor-to-ceiling windows!
Let me introduce Caffeine Focus, where I was very happy with both the view and the coffee and desserts~
Caffeine Focus hours and location in Haenggung-dong, Suwon
Mon–Sun 11:00–20:00 / Closed Tuesdays
Caffeine Focus sits just a little outside the main center of Haenggung-dong, but that actually makes it quieter and more relaxed, which I liked even more. If you want to walk along the fortress wall and then spend some quiet, unhurried time, I highly recommend this café.

Turns out the whole building is the café?? There's a 1st floor terrace, and then the 2nd and 3rd floors too~

The mirror photo zone beside the entrance
Right next to the entrance of Caffeine Focus, there's a photo zone?? If you take a picture with your camera in front of the mirror, the fortress view shows up in the background and it's so pretty hahaha. I really admired the owner's sense here haha. Take a shot here before you go in~~

Where to park at Caffeine Focus
Ah, and for anyone driving — Caffeine Focus doesn't have its own parking lot, but there's a resident priority parking zone right along the fortress wall in front of the café like this, which is open to anyone until 6pm. You can park there, or use a public parking lot~

When you walk in, the order counter is right there, and there's a restroom on the 1st floor too.

Seating guide: 1st-floor terrace to 3rd-floor windows
There's terrace seating outside on the 1st floor of Caffeine Focus. If you want indoor seating, order first, then head up the stairs and sit starting from the 2nd floor.

This is the vibe on the 2nd floor. The long floor-to-ceiling windows show off the fortress view, and the café atmosphere itself is calm, so it's also a good spot to come alone~~

Best fortress view: the 3rd-floor window seats
This is the mood on the 3rd floor~ The wide floor-to-ceiling windows give you the fortress view all at once, and it feels even more open. There's also a terrace seating area behind it — it's a building view rather than the fortress, but it still felt nice and open haha. If you want to really enjoy the fortress view, I recommend the 3rd floor window seats!!

And there's also a restroom on the 3rd floor haha, so no need to go all the way down to the 1st floor haha. It was well kept and clean too!!

Menu and what I ordered: Americano, vanilla bean latte, Basque cheesecake
Caffeine Focus has a lot of coffee and dessert options, and the ciabatta bread looked really good too??? Lots of people were getting it to go!! I went back and forth between the ciabatta and the cheesecake, but since it was a vanilla bean Basque cheesecake, I went with that!! haha

Such an impressive coffee machine... somehow it made me think the coffee would be great too hahaha

My Americano, vanilla bean latte, and vanilla bean Basque cheesecake arrived. The Americano was bitter but the coffee flavor itself was really clean?? Some coffees leave a heavy, sticky aftertaste, but this one was so clean it was surprisingly delicious.
And the vanilla bean latte used actual vanilla bean rather than vanilla powder or syrup, so the vanilla aroma and flavor were really good. The cake also had vanilla bean flecked throughout, giving it a subtle vanilla note while still keeping the cheesecake's soft, nutty flavor alive!! Both the coffee and the dessert were delicious!!
Enjoying good coffee and dessert while looking out at the open view through the floor-to-ceiling windows felt relaxing and refreshing haha. If you're looking for a new café in Haenggung-dong where you can rest quietly, give Caffeine Focus a try~
