The first thing I noticed walking in was that it's much bigger and cleaner than I expected! When you think of an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu place you kind of picture something crowded and chaotic, but here the seats are spaced out nicely and the whole vibe felt upscale, which I loved haha. There's also a separate room-style space, which is great for family meals and works fine for friends or couples too! The room has its own air conditioning so no worries about it getting hot and stuffy in there haha.

Is Shabuway a good place to bring a child?

I went with my nephew, and they had quite a lot of baby chairs ready, plus they even brought over cleaning wipes to wipe down the chair — so anyone visiting with a little one should be able to relax 👶🏻 There's also kids' fork and spoon on hand 🍴

What's on the self-serve bar at Shabuway

And of course, the self-serve bar you can't skip at Shabuway! There's a wide range of vegetables for the shabu-shabu as well as ingredients for rice wraps (Vietnamese-style spring rolls). The self-serve bar isn't limited to shabu-shabu and wrap ingredients either — there's chicken, pizza, pasta, sweet and sour pork, and more, buffet-style, so there's fun in picking and choosing what to eat too 🐷

On one side there are sauces, a self-serve porridge station, and desserts too 🧁

And not just drinks — draft beer is all-you-can-drink here too, just so you know 🥤🍺

Shabuway Cheongna prices and what two people ordered

The all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu menu is priced at 24,900 won for weekday lunch, 29,900 won for weekday dinner, and 29,900 won on weekends and holidays. Elementary schoolers pay 16,000 won, and children aged 36 months to 7 (preschool) pay 8,900 won.

For broth, there's the basic shiitake mushroom broth, and you can add spicy, mala, or sukiyaki broth depending on your taste — you can even split the pot half-and-half, and the extra broth cost is just 500 won on top of the basic one. We ordered the weekend/holiday 29,900 won set for two, with a 500 won spicy broth add-on.

Add in the food brought over from the self-serve bar and you're all set to eat 🔥

You all know the drill — drop in the bean sprouts, bok choy, napa cabbage, mushrooms, and other veggies first to bring out the flavor of the broth 🥬

Once the vegetables are cooked, add in the meat and cook it briefly. Writing this post is making me want to eat it all over again ㅠ 🤤

It's tasty dipped in the various sauces, and just as good wrapped up in rice paper for a wrap!! Shabu-shabu is great because you get to eat so many vegetables 😌

How meat and broth refills work at Shabuway

Once you finish the meat you're given at the start, just go grab more from the self-serve bar as you like 🥩 The meats you can enjoy all-you-can-eat are prime beef chuck, beef short plate, and pork short plate — three kinds, so you won't get tired of it ( ˘͈ ᵕ ˘͈ )

Broth refills work by type too, so if you're running low, just grab whichever broth you want from the self-serve bar and refill it yourself 🍲

Is Shabuway Cheongna worth it for family meals and gatherings?

To finish it off, an ice cream dessert for the perfect ending 🍦 Overall there was a wide variety of food and all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu meat too, so Shabuway felt like solid value!

Especially since the restaurant is spacious and has a somewhat upscale atmosphere, it's good for more than just a quick meal — it works well for family dinners or bringing your parents, and with the room seating, I think it'd also work fine as a spot for gatherings or anniversary dinners 🫶 Another plus is being able to choose from three kinds of shabu-shabu meat — beef chuck, beef short plate, and pork shoulder — and enjoy everything from rice wraps to the salad bar to desserts! (๑ᵔ⤙ᵔ๑)
