Goyang hydrangea garden café with blueberry tart: Baedagol Bakery

In short

Baedagol Bakery House is a large bakery café with a wide garden in Wondang-dong, Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi. On a weekday afternoon visit, a first-floor window seat looked straight out onto the hydrangeas in bloom, over a blueberry tart, fig cake, lemonade and a latte; cakes run 7,000 to 9,000 won and salt bread starts at 3,000 won. The coffee at Baedagol Bakery House was only so-so, but the garden and desserts alone make it worth the drive from Seoul.

I was looking for a café near Seoul and ended up at Baedagol Bakery House in Goyang. It was a beautiful day when I went, and the garden was really pretty,,🤍🍀 The hydrangeas were also in full bloom when I visited, so it was fun looking at those too.

Even on a weekday afternoon there were quite a lot of people, and since the garden was so well kept, a lot of families seemed to be visiting too. If you're looking for a garden café in Goyang or a drive-out café near Seoul, it's worth stopping by at least once 🤍

Exterior of Baedagol Bakery House in Wondang, Goyang
Exterior of the large bakery café with the front garden

Baedagol Bakery House is located over in the Wondang-dong area of Deogyang-gu, Goyang! Being a bakery café, the building itself is pretty large, but what I liked most about this place was definitely the garden that stretches out in front of the café.

Wide garden stretching out in front of the café

The hydrangea garden: green from the front gate on

Isn't the entrance so pretty? Lush and green — such a pretty café to visit right now! Sneak out for a weekend drive nearby and stop by~

Café entrance surrounded by lush green trees

The garden was bigger than I expected and overall really neatly maintained. Especially when I went, the hydrangeas were absolutely gorgeous. The lush green trees mixed with flowers made me want to take photos before I even walked into the café 🤍

It's a kids care zone, and pets seem hard to bring inside. Looks like only the outdoor garden seats would be possible!

Garden views from the first-floor window seats

The store is split into 1st and 2nd floors. I sat right on the 1st floor, and there were so many windows inside that it was great sitting there looking out at the garden!! The view is so good,,🤍

Even on a weekday afternoon there were quite a few guests, but since the space itself was so spacious, it didn't feel cramped at all. The garden was well kept and the space was large, so it looked great for coming with kids or visiting as a family with your parents. It's such a pretty space that I took way too many photos haha, so I picked out the best ones,,🦭

Menu and prices for bread and cake at Baedagol Bakery House

Menu board listing drinks and teas
Seasonal drink menu with many melon options

There were more tea options than I expected, and maybe because of the season, there were a lot of melon items. If you love melon, you'll have plenty of choices. Since I'm a coffee lover, as always I went with coffee haha

Bakery showcase with bread on display

There were also a lot of bread varieties, and I took photos of almost all of them.

So that's the cakes so far. Priced around ₩7,000–9,000! Quite a lot of variety.

Bread display starting from around ₩3,000

And these are the breads. There were a lot of bread varieties too — salt bread starting from ₩3,000, and pricier breads going up to ₩7,000–9,000. I debated whether to get bread, but ended up craving cake that day so I went with cake!

What I ordered — Blueberry tart / Fig cake / Lemonade / Latte

How do the blueberry tart and fig cake taste?

The drinks and desserts that came out. Good visuals, right? There was quite a variety of desserts, so I spent a while deciding what to get, but for a large-scale café, the desserts were pretty solid! First, the blueberry tart — the tart itself was solidly tasty, and if you like fruit desserts, it's an easy, no-pressure flavor to enjoy!

I also tried the fig cake, and it was good too! Sweet and delicious. I went there just for the pretty café, but the desserts turned out better than expected, so I was satisfied.

The coffee was so-so. Personally, this place feels more like somewhere you go to enjoy the pretty garden + café atmosphere + desserts than the coffee itself. The garden is so well kept that it's nice just to take a stroll around it, and especially for family visits, you can have coffee and enjoy the garden together, making it a good place to spend time!

Is Baedagol Bakery House worth the drive from Seoul?

I was looking for a café near Seoul and ended up at Baedagol Bakery House in Goyang, and after visiting in person, the pretty garden was definitely the biggest strength of this place. When I visited, the hydrangeas were really beautiful and the garden was so well maintained that it felt like a shame to just have coffee and leave!

I'd recommend it as a café worth stopping by with family or while driving near Seoul. Especially if you visit during hydrangea season, make sure to check out the garden too :)
