Apgujeong galette café solo lunch at a window seat: Le Bon Goûter

In short

Le Bon Goûter is a galette brunch café on the Apgujeong café street in Gangnam, Seoul, between Apgujeong Rodeo and Dosan Park. On this return visit Le Bon Goûter was quiet because the weekend peak time had passed, so a solo window seat came easily, with a jambon mushroom galette at 22,000 won, a chicken Caesar salad at 23,000 won and an Americano at 6,000 won. The portions were generous enough to share, and the deep buckwheat aroma of the galette turned Le Bon Goûter from a pretty café into a real brunch spot.

With so many wedding-invite meetups happening this fall, I went looking for a solid brunch spot and found one on the Apgujeong Rodeo café street: the galette brunch café Le Bon Goûter.

I'd actually visited before with friends and liked the vibe and the food so much that I went back — this time for a (relatively) light galette lunch. Honestly, every dish, coffee included, was made with real care, so I'd strongly recommend it as a place to meet before a wedding.

Where is Le Bon Goûter and what are its hours?

Le Bon Goûter sits on the Apgujeong café street, near both Apgujeong Rodeo and Dosan Park. It's open daily 09:00–18:00. The exterior has that look you'd expect from a European back alley! Weekend brunch hours get packed, so this time I made a point of avoiding peak time.

Inside Le Bon Goûter: the window seats

From the exterior to the inside, Le Bon Goûter is full of vintage furniture and knickknacks, so there was plenty to look at. Thanks to visiting at an off hour, I scored a window seat! Looking around, about half the customers were foreign visitors — a surprisingly high share. The space is roomy too, with a proper European café feel.

Le Bon Goûter menu and what one diner ordered

Le Bon Goûter's brunch lineup is quite varied — from its signature galettes to salads, pasta, and steak. Here's what I ordered:

  • Jambon Mushroom Galette ₩22,000
  • Chicken Caesar Salad ₩23,000
  • Americano ₩6,000

I had an evening appointment so I meant to order light, but the last visit was so good I ended up ordering a lot anyway.

Is one galette and salad too much for a solo lunch?

It had gotten a bit chilly with fall settling in, so I started with a hot Americano. Food came out quickly while I sipped my coffee, and the portions overall were so generous I was a little caught off guard. Eating alone, honestly this would have been plenty for two people to share.

Le Bon Goûter's chicken Caesar salad was grilled rather than fried, which made for a nicely light, clean flavor — that stood out to me. The chicken and vegetable portions were quite generous too, and the Caesar dressing was fresh and light, which kept me going back for more. Some places make the salad feel greasy with a heavy Caesar dressing, but this wasn't that kind of feeling at all.

I personally love mushrooms, so I ordered the galette (buckwheat savory crepe) with mushrooms this time. The galette dough itself is made from buckwheat, so one bite and the buckwheat aroma really comes through. It's clearly different from a regular crepe. There's also cheese tucked inside the galette, which adds a savory richness on top of the buckwheat's clean flavor. I'll definitely order this again next time.

I'd been out and about since early that morning, so my energy was pretty low. Pairing the delicious galette with a warm Americano really helped me recover. The Americano in particular wasn't very acidic and had more of a rich, dark coffee character, which I liked even more.

Is Le Bon Goûter good for a date or a group get-together?

My first impression of Le Bon Goûter this visit was 'pretty café,' but by the time I left it had become 'excellent brunch spot.' In particular, I highly recommend the jambon mushroom galette, where the buckwheat-scented galette comes together with cheese, mushroom, and arugula. And given how strong that first impression is, the atmosphere is plenty photogenic too, making it a great choice for a wedding meetup or a date course. If I'm ever picking a meetup spot with friends in Apgujeong, Le Bon Goûter will definitely make the shortlist. If you want to enjoy brunch and galette together near Apgujeong Rodeo, it's worth a visit at least once.
