How to get to Anew Hair Cheongdam Main Branch from Gangnam-gu Office Station

Anew Hair Cheongdam Main Branch (아뉴헤어 청담본점) is a hair salon on the 2nd floor of a building 3 minutes on foot from Exit 2 of Gangnam-gu Office Station. It's open daily 10:00–20:30, closed Mondays, and there's parking on the building's 1st floor. I came in for a tone-down dye to welcome fall. I've been a little obsessed with my appearance lately, so I figured this was the perfect chance to get a real image change with a proper hair consultation.

If you're walking from Gangnam-gu Office Station, the entrance can be a little confusing — head toward the side with the parking lot, then take the elevator up to the 2nd floor.

It's not the automatic door with the signboard! Keep Rabbit Osteria on your right and go in on the left side from there.

Prices and hair length surcharges at Anew Hair

Right at the entrance of Anew Hair Cheongdam Main Branch there was a price table set up for walk-in customers. I'd booked through Naver, and prices are also visible there. Just note there are extra charges depending on hair length and stylist level.

A café-like salon interior and a private consultation room

The moment I walked in, the clean white tones and floor-to-ceiling windows made it feel more like a café than a hair salon. The interior was seriously beautifully done.

The seats were spaced well apart too, so I could relax comfortably during the service.

Anew Hair is known for its personal hair consulting — they say they offer a free 1:1 customized diagnosis consultation no matter what service you're getting. I've been to plenty of salons, but this was the first time I'd seen one with an actual dedicated consultation room.

Before the consultation started, they set out snacks and a drink. I usually drink iced green tea, but I was craving an iced Americano for some reason. Anew Hair's coffee was actually really good.

How the free personal hair consultation works

Before the consultation, you fill out a questionnaire about your current hair condition, scalp condition, and the style you're generally going for, and the diagnosis is based on that.

I got my consultation and treatment from head stylist Eunbyeol! She analyzed my head shape, face shape, hair condition, and more in detail. She even drew diagrams by hand so it was easy to understand.

She checked my current scalp condition and recommended a color that would suit me. She said a tone-down close to black wasn't the best match for my face tone, so we went with a slightly darker matte brown instead. Oh, and I was honestly shocked when she showed me my scalp condition, so I decided to get scaling too. I knew it was dry, but it was worse than I thought. I've decided to actually take care of it properly from now on!

And the consultation kept going... am I really getting all this for free? 🥹 She even looked at my personal color and facial balance. Come with plenty of time to spare, everyone. Director Eunbyeol is completely serious about her personal diagnoses.

The matte brown tone-down dye process, step by step

Behold, the sorry state of my hair before... In photos it looked even more uneven, and the roots had grown out quite a bit.

The dye went on in a flash and then it was time for heat processing — true to being the head stylist, her hands were incredibly fast. She kept carefully wiping away any dye that got on my skin and checking in to make sure I wasn't uncomfortable, so I got to just relax on my phone until it was time for the shampoo room!

Scalp scaling and hair tonic at Anew Hair

I got scaling done along with the shampoo, and it felt amazing. She massaged my scalp thoroughly during the scaling, which definitely left it feeling much more refreshed.

After the scalp scaling and before drying, she sprayed on a hair tonic too. She mentioned that since it's hard to make time and budget for regular clinic treatments, using a hair tonic consistently at home is a good alternative. She said it doesn't even have to be a professional product — an Olive Young one works perfectly well — so I'm thinking of picking one up and using it consistently.

How the finished matte brown color turned out

The director styled my hair beautifully to suit my face shape with the blow-dry. The hair color came out great too — I loved it.

Adding volume at the front root area finished the whole look off.

It's been a while since I toned down my color, so it felt a bit unfamiliar but I loved it so much. With side volume matched to my face shape and the color to match, my face looked brighter and prettier — I was so satisfied. The color doesn't show up that well in photos, so here's a video... a little embarrassing to show my face, haha.

After the service, she checked my scalp before and after, and it clearly looked noticeably cleaner and more balanced than before. Success in getting back to a healthy scalp!
