Hongdae pizza restaurant with L-size half-and-half: Sunny's Pizza
In short
Sunny's Pizza Market is a pizza restaurant in Yeonnam-dong, Seoul, on the second floor of a main-road building beside Gyeongui Line Forest Park, a short walk from exit 3 of Hongik University Station. On an early evening visit with the windows open, the order was an L-size half-and-half pizza (27,900 won) split between pepperoni and sweet Hawaiian, plus buffalo wings — the cheese was nutty and savory and the dough chewy. With red pepper flakes and garlic dipping sauce from the self-serve bar to change the flavor as you go, Sunny's Pizza Market is a pizza spot tuned to the Korean palate.

I visited Sunny's Pizza Market, well known as a Yeonnam-dong favorite. There's so much to see and eat around Yeonnam-dong that I end up going often. With a half-and-half pizza you get to try two flavors, and the cheese is so savory and soft that I couldn't stop eating — a genuine pizza favorite. Sunny's Pizza Market also has that pleasure of eating on what feels like a terrace.
How to get to Sunny's Pizza Market in Yeonnam-dong

Coming out of exit 3 of Hongik University Station and walking along the path beside Gyeongui Line Forest Park, Sunny's Pizza Market is right on the main road. I was glad to spot the sign as I was making my way there. It's on the 2nd floor, so you go straight up the stairs. As is typical in Yeonnam-dong, there's no parking support, so you'll need to find a nearby lot.
Inside Sunny's Pizza Market on an early evening, windows open

I went in the early evening, and with the windows open it felt cool, relaxed, and lovely. Going right around sunset made the place feel even more atmospheric.

When you order the half-and-half at Sunny's Pizza Market, the extra charge for each flavor is laid out clearly so it's easy to see. Today I chose pepperoni and sweet Hawaiian.
What's on the self-serve bar at Sunny's Pizza Market?

After ordering, I checked out the self-serve bar, which had pickles, garlic dipping sauce, side plates, forks, knives, disposable gloves, and wet wipes all set out.
How the L-size pepperoni and sweet Hawaiian half-and-half tastes

A bit later, out came the L-size half-and-half — the Yeonnam-dong pizza favorite near Hongdae. As soon as it arrived the savory aroma was incredible. Eating it fresh right there, the cheese stretched beautifully and stayed warm, which was great.

The pepperoni pizza had a light dusting of pepper on top, and you could really taste the classic pizza flavor, with the cheese's savoriness maximized — delicious. There are people who only love pepperoni, and this one is genuinely amazing. The sweet Hawaiian pizza doesn't skimp on the bacon ham either.

Partway through I sprinkled on some red pepper flakes and coarse pepper. When it starts to feel just a touch heavy, the red pepper flakes are exactly what you need.

Dipping the Sunny's pizza into the garlic dipping sauce every so often takes the sweetness up another notch. Mixing up the sauces made the meal even better.
Are the buffalo wings good for kids?

Midway through the meal, the buffalo wings arrived — freshly made, they were extremely hot and cooked just right. Perfect for alternating bites with the pizza.

Golden brown and cooked to perfection. The pizza is delicious, but the buffalo wings seem like a dish everyone would love. I thought they'd be a perfect order for eating with kids.
Is Sunny's Pizza Market worth a visit?

Sunny's Pizza Market, the Yeonnam-dong favorite — looking around the place, I noticed a lot of framed Blue Ribbon Survey certificates, so it's clearly a genuine local favorite. Even while I was eating, plenty of takeout orders kept coming in. It suits the Korean palate perfectly, with savory cheese and chewy dough — a pizza place that really wins me over. There are still so many pizzas I haven't tried, so next time I'll have to come back for the Smooth Potato pizza.
