Bisque pasta and rooftop floors at Gangnam restaurant The Mignon Seoul

In short

The Mignon Seoul is a casual dining restaurant in a standalone two-story building midway between Gangnam Station Exit 11 and Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 6 in Gangnam, Seoul. The Mignon Seoul spreads across floors — a semi-open kitchen on the 1st, full-height windows on the 2nd, and a 3rd-floor rooftop that had not opened yet at the time of this visit — and the meal covered a seasonal fruit ricotta salad at 18,000 won, round pasta in bisque sauce, and an oven-baked popover pancake. It gets both the mood and the food right, which makes it an easy pick for a date or a group get-together.

A restaurant in Seoul with great vibes / Western food near Gangnam Station / recommended for double dates and blind dates THE MIGNON SEOUL Casual dining Restaurant

Image of The Mignon Seoul casual dining restaurant

What do you look for first when picking a meeting spot in Gangnam? Good subway access, a location you can find easily even on your first visit, a nice atmosphere, a varied menu. The place I'm introducing today nails both mood and taste — it's a Western food spot near Gangnam Station. Honestly!

Where is The Mignon Seoul? Directions, parking and hours

The Mignon Seoul sits roughly midway between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station. Gangnam Station Exit 11, Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 6. Just walk straight up from the alley by the CGV building. Super easy to find... haha.

Unfortunately parking is tough. Most places near Gangnam Station have limited parking. ※ Nearby public lot: Yeoksam Culture Park No. 2 public parking lot. Keep that in mind.

● Hours (daily) 10:00 - 22:00 Break time (weekdays only) 15:00 - 17:00 Closed Sept 25 for Chuseok ● Groups welcome (call ahead to reserve for parties of 5+) ● 110-minute seating limit on weekends, holidays, or when full on weekdays ● Corkage fee - ₩30,000 per wine bottle (750ml)

It's a standalone two-story building, and even just the exterior gave me a European feel.

The outside really suits calling it an upscale restaurant near Gangnam Station. Walked in feeling a little excited ^-^

1st floor: semi-open kitchen and seating

1F

Semi-open kitchen visible from the 1st floor entrance

The semi-open kitchen faces you right as you walk in. Even though it's open, there wasn't much noise or food smell. If anything, it made talking to staff easier, and the openness of the space felt good rather than cramped.

Standalone 2-seat table in front of the kitchen

There's a standalone 2-seat table right in front of the kitchen (personally, I wouldn't recommend that spot since it's right by the kitchen), and the tables are spaced wide apart, which makes for comfortable dining. High ceilings and a modern, upscale feel.

What are the 2nd-floor window seats like?

2F

The 2nd floor has the same modern mood, but it feels even brighter thanks to sunlight coming through the floor-to-ceiling windows. There was a bit of chatter noise, which might be more noticeable when the floor is fully seated.

Is the 3rd-floor rooftop open?

3F rooftop (not open at the time of this visit)

Open, window-filled 3rd floor rooftop space

So many windows, so bright, and just great openness overall. (I love bright spaces, haha.)

With how hot it's been even at midday lately, I'd guess the rooftop will open a bit later.

Round ball-shaped light fixtures on the rooftop

I'm guessing those round balls are lighting fixtures haha. Eating on the rooftop around sunset would feel amazing.

Restrooms split by floor: women's on 1.5F, men's on 2.5F

Lighting and mirror in the 1.5F women's restroom

Since there are many women customers, the women's restroom sits between the 1st and 2nd floors. You can tell they put thought into everything from the lighting to the mirror, whereas —

Interior of the 2.5F men's restroom

the men's restroom is just... a restroom haha. Feels rough for the chefs having to go up and down between floors?! But I liked that men's and women's are separated by floor.

Menu, set options and the receipt review event

Just looking at the menu, this really does feel like a Western food spot near Gangnam Station. There are set menus for 2, 3, and 4 people (brunch, basic, main), plus plenty of à la carte options, so ordering a set and adding on works well too.

The food came out really fast, haha. The pancake takes about 20 minutes since it needs to bake in the oven.

How the salad, bisque round pasta and popover pancake taste

Let me run through each dish.

Salad topped with seasonal fruit and ricotta cheese
Seasonal fruit ricotta salad, ₩18,000

Apple, kiwi, Shine Muscat grapes, lemon, cherry tomatoes, arugula, romaine, and other fresh veggies, along with cranberries and ricotta cheese, all worked well with the tangy dressing.

Plate of pasta with minced meat cream sauce

The cheese flavor really came through, and the finely minced meat in cream sauce was smooth with a strong nutty richness. I enjoyed it a lot, though the portion felt a bit small.

Round pasta in bisque sauce
Close-up of bisque pasta topped with lotus root

A savory bisque sauce with lotus root and pasta shaped like little round car tires — first time I'd ever had noodles like that, haha. Chewy texture, and the round shape made it easy to eat.

Popover pancake puffed up from oven baking
Pancake served with grilled banana and bacon

The pancake puffs up from baking in the oven, and eating it together with grilled banana, arugula, ricotta cheese, bacon, and tomato was so good. Sweet enough to lift your mood too (highly recommend).

Is The Mignon Seoul good for a date or a group meal?

The Mignon Seoul has an overall classic yet modern mood, making it a solid choice for a date or a group meal. Food came out fast for the most part, and the staff were kind. If you're looking for Western food near Gangnam Station or a restaurant in Seoul with great vibes, I'd recommend The Mignon Seoul. Hope this review helps... ♥
