Nambu Terminal chicken restaurant for roast wing bbong: Kkanbu

The menu I'd recommend at Kkanbu Chicken, a Nambu Terminal favorite for outdoor-style chicken.

I was looking for chicken near Nambu Terminal and ended up at Kkanbu Chicken. The place turned out to be way bigger than I expected — for a chicken restaurant, it has a lot of tables and plenty of room, so it seemed like a good spot even for a big group.

This time I ordered roast wing bbong and sweet potato cheese balls. Bottom line: both were delicious. The roast wing bbong especially — I think I'd order it again next time.

Where is Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch, and how do you get there?

Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch is at 42 Seocho-jungang-ro, Blue Fin Tower B109, 110, 111, Seocho-gu, Seoul. It's close to Nambu Terminal and near Seoul Arts Center, so it's a convenient spot for chicken if you're meeting someone around here.

It also works well if you're looking for a place to eat after a show at Seoul Arts Center, or somewhere for a drink near Nambu Terminal.

A dining room roomy enough for a group

Above all, I really liked how spacious the place was.

There are quiet spots for two, and plenty of room for a bigger group to sit together and talk. I could see this being popular with people looking for a chicken restaurant for a work dinner near Nambu Terminal.

Roast wing bbong: the favorite of this visit

The roast wing bbong (wing and drumette) I enjoyed the most. This was the item I liked best this visit. I usually go for fried chicken, but this time I tried something different — and it was surprisingly delicious.

Since it's wing bbong, it's easy to pick up piece by piece, and I kept reaching for more without noticing. It goes great with a beer, or just on its own. If someone asked me what to recommend at Kkanbu Chicken, I'd probably mention the roast wing bbong first now.

The side dish: sweet potato cheese balls

I also ordered sweet potato cheese balls as a side. These were tasty too — the sweetness of the sweet potato with melted cheese paired well with the chicken. A bite of chicken, a bite of cheese ball, back to the chicken — before I knew it I was just eating nonstop.

If two of you feel like adding one more side to your chicken, I'd recommend the sweet potato cheese balls. Out of everything I ordered this time, this felt like a really good call.

Why Jensen Huang comes up whenever Kkanbu Chicken does

Search for Kkanbu Chicken these days and Jensen Huang comes up alongside it. After it became known that Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, had chimaek (chicken and beer) at the Samsung branch of Kkanbu Chicken with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Euisun, the menu itself became a talking point.

The dishes reported at the time were the crispy Six Pack, crispy boneless fried chicken, and cheese sticks, and later a set menu combining them, called AI Kkanbu, was released. What I ate this time was different from what Jensen Huang had, but I came across the story naturally while looking into the Kkanbu Chicken menu. I might try the AI Kkanbu set next time.

With this many chicken options, it's easy for a group to each pick what they want. This time I had the roast wing bbong, and personally that's the dish that stuck with me the most.

It turned out to have a spacious dining room and good food, making it a comfortable spot for a group. If you're after a chicken restaurant, a bar, or a work dinner spot near Nambu Terminal, a spacious place like this is genuinely convenient. It also works well if you want chicken near Seoul Arts Center, or if you're coming over from Gyodae Station for a meal. I really loved the combination of roast wing bbong and sweet potato cheese balls this time.

If I come back, I'll probably order the exact same thing again. It's always a letdown when you pick the wrong dish at a chicken place — but this time I picked right. Roast wing bbong with sweet potato cheese balls. I recommend this combo.
