Seocho chicken restaurant for fried chicken and icy beer: Kkanbu
In short
Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch is a chicken restaurant with outdoor tables on the ground floor of Blue Fin Tower at 42 Seocho-jungang-ro, Seocho-gu, Seoul. On a weekend evening the writer and her husband ordered fried chicken and draft beer: the batter was thin, light and stayed crisp, and the icy draft beer washed the grease away cleanly. Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch is a good pick for chimaek (chicken and beer) at an outdoor table before or after a show at the Seoul Arts Center, right by Nambu Terminal Station.

These cooler evenings are basically made for chimaek (chicken and beer), right? This past weekend I held hands with my husband and headed to Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch, famous around here for its outdoor terrace seating. It's perfect for filling up after a show at the Seoul Arts Center, or just for a casual chimaek night in the neighborhood. Here's my honest, detailed review.
Where is Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch, and is there parking?
Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch sits on the 1st floor of Blue Fin Tower, 42 Seocho-jungang-ro, Seocho-gu, right in front of Nambu Terminal Station. There's an underground parking entrance to the left as you face the storefront, so driving in isn't a hassle either.

A café-like interior plus rare outdoor tables in Seocho
Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch has apparently held down this exact spot for 12 years as a neighborhood fixture, but I was a little surprised by the interior. It felt more like a cozy café than a chicken restaurant. The lighting was soft and the seats had generous spacing, making it work equally well for a date or a loud group of friends. Since the Seoul Arts Center is right nearby, apparently a lot of people stop by before or after performances.
The day we went was a weekend evening, so almost every seat was taken, and I spotted several tables of group diners. There are plenty of seats, so it looked like it could handle a work dinner or gathering without issue. Best of all — this neighborhood rarely has outdoor terrace seating, and this place does! If you know, you know that feeling of chimaek in the cool night breeze.

How do the fried chicken and icy draft beer taste?
What we ordered that night was fried chicken and draft beer. It was an evening that reminded me all over again why this combo is a national rule. As soon as the chicken arrived, steam was still rising off it, and the first bite had that crispy-outside, juicy-inside batter texture down perfectly. The crunch lasted long enough that we had to eat fairly quickly before it could go soft.

The chicken itself was clean with no gamey smell, and pulling the meat apart you could feel the juices were plump inside. The batter wasn't thick, so it leaned light and clean rather than greasy, with a savory, mellow aftertaste that kept pulling my hand back for more.

Pairing it with a cool draft beer with a thin slush of ice on top was truly perfect. It went down clean and refreshing, cutting right through the chicken's grease.
Menu lineup and bottled beer sets at Kkanbu Chicken
The chicken menu lineup at Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch was more varied than I expected. Beyond draft beer, there are bottled beer set discounts too, so you can pick options that fit your group size.

Group dinners, takeout and amenities
Both reservations and group bookings are available, so it works well as a place for work dinners, and takeout is also possible, making it easy for solo diners or anyone who wants to enjoy it comfortably at home. The Wi-Fi worked well and the restrooms were separated by gender, which showed some attention to hygiene too. It's a place that fits equally well for a quick stop before or after a show at the Seoul Arts Center, or for enjoying that outdoor terrace mood near Nambu Terminal.
On a cool night, a piece of chicken and a glass of slushy beer really can wrap up a weekend perfectly. If you're looking for a place near the Seoul Arts Center and right in front of Nambu Terminal Station where you can enjoy that outdoor terrace feeling, Kkanbu Chicken Nambu Terminal Branch is worth a visit.
