Bucheon BBQ for black pork jowl and soy egg rice: Cham Dwaejitgan

I've been so busy lately with wedding invitation get-togethers, haha. Today I decided to eat pork with a friend who'd just gotten off work. I'd walked past this place before and thought of it again today, so I finally visited for the first time.

Lately when I eat meat I personally love places where the staff grill it for you lol. It's so much nicer to just chat comfortably with a friend while eating. This time I ended up at Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch while looking for pork belly in Bucheon's Sinjung-dong, and the meat turned out better than I expected — I left satisfied.

Where do you park at Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch?

There's street parking right near the restaurant, but there weren't any spots. We ended up parking at the building with the Lotte Cinema nearby. So we just parked at the movie theater building across the street, grabbed some popcorn on our way out, and asked them to validate our parking lol. If you're worried about parking, keep this in mind.

The weather was so nice that day that they opened up the front, and the airflow was even better for it. Fall weather is really the best... haha.

If you're looking for pork belly in Bucheon Sinjung-dong and want to eat in an open, not-stuffy atmosphere, this is worth keeping in mind.

Ordering Jirisan black pork neck and pork jowl

My friend wanted pork neck, so we ordered two servings of Jirisan black pork neck plus one serving of pork jowl at Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch, along with soy sauce egg rice. My friend originally also wanted cold noodles, but between the meat and the rice we ended up so full that we couldn't fit them in, haha.

The basic banchan (side dishes) are at a self-serve bar, so you can just go grab more if you run out. Being able to freely pick up whichever sides you want was another nice touch.

Soy sauce egg rice is worth adding

And the soy sauce egg rice we ordered as a side! It comes out and you mix it all together nicely — I hadn't had it in a while, and it was genuinely delicious, haha. Not many BBQ restaurants seem to sell soy sauce egg rice as a side dish, but it went really well with the meat. Between the meat and the rice, there was absolutely no room left for cold noodles lol.

Minari, bean sprouts and kimchi, plus potato wraps

At Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch, you can grill minari (water celery), bean sprouts and kimchi along with the meat, and honestly that combo is impossible to resist lol. Grilling them in the meat's fat made them so tasty. They also showed us how to grill thin potato slices and wrap them around the meat — that turned out to be a surprisingly great pairing too.

Having so many things you can grill alongside the meat made the whole meal more fun. So if you're looking for pork belly in Bucheon Sinjung-dong and like side dishes to go with your meat rather than just eating meat alone, this could be a good fit.

I've been checking out a bunch of different BBQ restaurants lately while hunting for good pork belly spots in Bucheon, and while I like pork belly, I'm actually a huge fan of pork jowl, so I had high hopes for it that day.

Staff grill the black pork for you

At Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch, staff grill the meat for you, which made the meal really comfortable. Lately I feel like places that grill for you are just the best lol. When you meet up with a friend after a while and have so much to catch up on, having to grill the meat yourself on top of that is kind of a hassle. It was nice being able to chat freely while they grilled and just eat as soon as it was ready.

I really love pork jowl, and the meat at Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch was better than expected, so I left satisfied. The meat itself was tasty, and with all the different things to grill and eat alongside it, this one stuck in my memory as a great pork belly restaurant in Bucheon.

I've been seeing friends a lot lately because of all the wedding invitation get-togethers, and that day I met up with a friend who'd just finished work for the first time in a while, ate delicious meat, and talked about all sorts of things. There's really nothing better than eating good food and chatting with a friend, haha. After the meal I went to my friend's place and saw her baby, who had grown so much since I'd last seen them... haha. Time really flies.

This was my first visit, but I think I'll come back whenever I'm craving meat. If you're looking for a good pork belly restaurant in Bucheon and prefer a place where they grill the meat for you, Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch is worth a visit. Next time I want to properly try the pork belly and actually make it to the cold noodles lol. It was a great day, getting to eat delicious meat and talk comfortably with a friend I hadn't seen in a while.
