Window-seat lunch at a Uiwang fish restaurant: stone-pot fish stew
In short
Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch is a wood-fired grilled fish restaurant serving Korean set meals at 148 Neungan-gil in Uiwang, Gyeonggi, beside Baegun Lake. The writer came for lunch with her mother on a drive around the lake, took a window seat and ordered the boyang (health-boosting) set for two with a rice pot, which brought sea eel, oily flounder and Norwegian mackerel plus a stone-pot seasonal fish stew — enough for two bowls of rice. With a self-serve bar holding so many banchan (side dishes) that her mother asked if it was a buffet, the boyang set for two is a generous lunch to share with parents.

Where is Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch, and when is it open?
Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch is a Baegun Lake set-meal and wood-fired grilled fish restaurant at 148 Neungan-gil, Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It's open daily 11:00–21:00, with a weekday break time of 15:00–17:00 (no break on weekends), and last order is at 20:20.
I went on a little date with my mom, combining it with a drive around Baegun Lake 💕 There are so many good restaurants around Baegun Lake, but I wanted something healthy and nourishing, so we headed to Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch 🐟

Off we went to eat some good-for-you fish 🚘 Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch has a nice big parking lot, so we parked with no trouble and headed inside :)
Inside the Uiwang restaurant: window seats facing Baegun Lake
A clean, quietly cozy interior ✨
The interior had a warm, clean wood-tone feel. We came for lunch and there were all kinds of guests, young and old 🧡
We were seated by the window! The green view outside made it feel so open, not cramped at all 🌿
Menu prices and what comes in the boyang set for two

The menu was really varied — from mackerel rice pot set to Atka mackerel rice pot set, Spanish mackerel rice pot set, wood-fired pork rice pot set, wood-fired dried yellow corvina, barley corvina, and plenty of other fish dishes.

Since there was a set menu, my mom and I decided on the boyang set for two (with rice pot included) plus a Coke ✔️
Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch ⭐️what's in the boyang set for two (with rice pot)⭐️ Domestic sea eel, oily flounder, seasonal fish stew, Norwegian mackerel — all on one table, the house's special nourishing set 💗

The self-serve banchan bar my mother mistook for a buffet
At Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch, you help yourself to banchan (side dishes) from a self-serve bar. After ordering, I noticed the bar and went to check it out, and my mom went "wait, is this a buffet?" hahaha(?) That's how many different side dishes were laid out!
So many self-serve bar options 🍽️

Chonggak kimchi (whole radish kimchi), lettuce, lotus root salad, muk-muchim (jelly salad), japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), and mung bean sprout salad.

There was tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), macaroni salad, kimchi pancake, stem lettuce, spicy chili muchim, and doraji-muchim (bellflower root salad) — some served by default, others not. My mom especially loved the lotus root salad and kept eating it 💗 I just thought everything was tasty haha.
The boyang set for two arrives: everything on the table
Our order arrived. What a generous spread!

Warm doenjang (soybean paste) soup and rice pot came with it too. The soup was delicious. And above all, so much bang for your buck >_< I loved it.

A table so nourishing-looking it made your mouth water just from the photo (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و ♡
How the wood-fired grilled fish and sea eel tasted

Maybe because it's grilled over a wood fire, it was clean and light, not oily at all — I loved that. Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo, the Baegun Lake set-meal spot, grills its fish in a wood-fired oven over 500°C, so it comes out crispy outside and juicy inside 🐟
I thought the eel might have a slight smell, but there was none at all — it was nutty and delicious. Eaten with the sauce that came alongside, the rice just disappeared 🍚 Oh, and the rice was cooked perfectly fluffy too — my mom said it tasted like they use good rice.

The stone-pot seasonal fish stew that comes out last
While we were eating, the fish stew arrived! Oh right, I'd forgotten it was coming, and it made everything even more of a feast. Fern, radish, fish and chopped green onion, all bubbling away in a stone pot — honestly, coming here means you'll need two bowls of rice.. 🔥
The seasoning was so good, and mixed into rice it was heavenly 😇 We left truly full and satisfied after this nourishing meal! You know fish is good for you, right? Already booked our next visit ❤️
