Hongdae outdoor patio BBQ with bone-in pork: Gogikkun Gimchunbae
In short
Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant right beside the Gyeongui Line Forest Park in Mapo, Seoul, where Korean beef and Korean pork are grilled together at one table. The writer ordered the beef and pork 2-person SET 600g plus a half-and-half naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), shifting cooked meat onto the side rack to keep it warm, and rated the thick bone-in pork the best bite for its chewy texture. With outdoor patio seats, Gogikkun Gimchunbae suits a fine-weather evening that pairs a walk with dinner.

What we ordered: the 600g beef and pork set for two, plus naengmyeon

Beef/Pork 2-person SET 600g, half-and-half naengmyeon (cold noodles). This time I tried the 2-person set that lets you eat Korean beef and Korean pork together. Whether to go beef-only or pork-only

can be a tough call a lot of the time, but since this set brings out both beef and pork together, I loved being able to switch between the two 😆 It's 600g total, so the meat looked really generous the moment it landed on the table! Thick pork and appetizing beef piled up on one grill — you could tell just from the photo that this was a proper meat meal haha 🔥
Korean beef first, and the side rack that keeps it warm
Once the grill heated up, I started with the beef.

Beef can get tough if you overcook it, so I seared the outside quickly and ate it while the inside still had a slight pink tinge. One bite in, the outside was nicely browned and the inside was tender with the juices still alive and moist 🥹 The savory meaty aroma built up with every chew, so satisfaction went up right from the first bite...!

Good Korean beef is more than enough with just a light dip in salt, isn't it?

First I enjoyed the meat's natural flavor with nothing added, then paired it with sauce or side dishes depending on the mood. There was a small separate grill rack on one side of the main grill, where you could move over meat that was already well cooked.
This kept the meat from overcooking and toughening while sitting there, letting me eat it warm at a slower pace — I thought that was a really thoughtful touch 👍🏻
Thick bone-in Korean pork: the best bite of the night
After working through the beef, I got into the pork properly. You can tell how thick the meat is even from the photo, right? 😆
With thick pork like this, you sear the outside golden brown, then cut it into bite-sized pieces and grill them further.
The surface grilled up appetizingly while the inside kept its moist juices, so it wasn't dry at all — nice and tender. The cut had a good balance of savory fat and lean meat, and the flavor got richer the more I chewed!

There were also pieces with big bones attached, which grabbed your eye from the moment they hit the table haha 🍖 You know how the meat around the bone is extra chewy and savory, right? Cut into bite-sized pieces and grilled golden, it had a different charm from the beef.

Going from beef to pork and back again to beef, it was a combination I never got tired of the whole meal 💛
Half-and-half naengmyeon: cold broth and spicy mixed in one bowl
After eating a good amount of meat, a refreshing, cool naengmyeon (cold noodles) is a must!

This place has a half-and-half naengmyeon that lets you enjoy both mul naengmyeon (cold broth noodles) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed noodles) in one bowl, so I ordered it. I'm exactly the person who agonizes every time over mul or bibim naengmyeon haha, but when both come out side by side, there was no need to stress over choosing 😆

The mul naengmyeon was cool and clean, refreshing my palate after the meat, while the bibim naengmyeon's sweet-and-tangy, slightly spicy sauce was so well soaked into the noodles that my chopsticks kept going back 🌶️ Especially putting a piece of meat on top of the bibim naengmyeon noodles and eating them together... that combination needs no explanation haha 🥩🍜 The savory meat and the spicy-tangy bibim naengmyeon just kept going down even when I was already full. And cooling off in between with the mul naengmyeon made for a perfect finish all the way to the end 💛
Final verdict: who should book Gogikkun Gimchunbae?
Gogikkun Gimchunbae Hongdae Supgil Branch had it all — a set that lets you eat Korean beef and Korean pork together, thick and juicy meat, a half-and-half naengmyeon giving you both cold and mixed noodles, a location great for pairing with a Gyeongui Line Forest Park walk, and outdoor yard seating perfect for nice weather. A solid pick near the Gyeongui Line Forest Park, a Hongdae Korean BBQ restaurant and Hongdae favorite.

If you've ever felt torn between choosing just beef or just pork, I'd recommend the beef/pork 2-person set!
At 600g, it comes out generously, so there's fun in slowly grilling through different cuts, and adding the half-and-half naengmyeon on top makes for a really great combination 😆
