Seongsu lunch-break coffee shop, Pistachio Festival for four: Notldun

Working in Seongsu, one of our small joys these days is walking around during lunch and popping into cafés haha. Even going in totally at random usually works out! Today we grabbed lunch, headed out for a walk, and stopped at a café that turned out to be a serious dessert spot — got our sugar fix and then headed to Seoul Forest haha.

Where is Notldun, and what are its hours?

Notldun, a café in Seongsu, sits between Ttukseom Station and Seoul Forest Station — about an 8-minute walk. Great to stop by on a walk!

It stays open 30 minutes later on weekends, until 10:30pm — pretty late for a Seongsu café.

We had lunch and were walking over together haha, only 5 minutes from work!

Notldun from the street: a 2nd-floor café with full-height windows

There's a pretty café building, and it's on the 2nd floor! The floor-to-ceiling windows let you see right inside, giving it a really open feel.

Inside Notldun: seating and the dessert showcase

A clean white interior. It's not huge, but there was plenty of seating. Even without a lot of seats, it seems like a spot where people also come just to buy dessert as gifts. Being on the 2nd floor, the view is nice too.

The cakes and madeleines were displayed neatly, all glossy and looking genuinely delicious! We came for coffee, but I already knew we'd have to order dessert.

There's also a financier and madeleine selection that's perfect for gifting. Nice that you can mix and match flavors.

I heard this place was featured on Cheonhajebbang (a baking competition show) episode 1. We spent a while browsing the madeleines and cakes deciding what dessert to get haha.

We ordered four drinks plus the Pistachio Festival.

The Pistachio Festival! It had this slightly jiggly texture, almost like yanggaeng (sweet jelly) but also soft and fluffy. It's made with pistachio mousse, praline cream, and sponge.

And each of us got our own drink~ Since we've been eating a lot of heavy dessert and food lately, we mostly kept it to Americanos and lattes today haha. And happily shared one dessert between us~

Looking closer, there was even gold dust sprinkled on it haha. We debated who should get it, and the person sitting across from me won the draw!! haha

How the Pistachio Festival tasted, split four ways

We happily cut it into four and each had a piece — it was seriously, seriously good!! You could really taste the pistachio flavor and aroma, and it wasn't an artificial sweetness — soft and melting in your mouth. We'd originally planned to just grab our coffees and go, but the dessert was so good we ended up sitting down and finishing our coffee too before leaving~ We came for coffee and fell for the dessert! A dessert spot good enough to give as a gift, no question.

After that sweet sugar refill, we walked over to Seoul Forest. Can't believe a place like this exists in Seoul. Walking around, it just made us happy. Thanks to a sweet, delicious dessert, we got a proper recharge on our lunch break before heading back to work haha.
