Bangi-dong gukbap restaurant, couple's hangover lunch: Boseung Hoegwan

In short

Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is a 24-hour gukbap (rice-and-soup) restaurant in Bangi-dong, Songpa, Seoul. On a Sunday lunch the day after drinking, the couple ordered one suyuk jiok (spicy boiled pork soup) and one sundae jiok (spicy blood sausage soup), plus a small sundae sampler on the side. If you like a fiery broth, the suyuk jiok at Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is the better hangover cure of the two.

Where to eat in Bangi-dong the day after drinking

If you're the type who craves a spicy hangover meal the day after drinking, you're probably curious how the pork jowl hell soup and sundae hell soup I had turned out!

  • ✔️ Location: 65-3 Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul
  • ✔️ Hours: Open 24 hours
  • ✔️ Parking: 6–7 spots available in front of the restaurant

To cut to the chase, I had the pork jowl hell soup and my boyfriend had the sundae hell soup, and we both walked out properly full on hot broth haha. Boseung Hoegwan is a place I already visit often, so I wasn't going in blind — but it was extra nice to go this time as part of a sponsored visit♥️

Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch on a Sunday lunchtime: seats and atmosphere

My stomach felt heavy all morning after drinking the night before, and no matter how much time passed, I kept craving that spicy broth (am I the only one who does this..?)

While talking it over with my boyfriend, we naturally ended up heading to Boseung Hoegwan in Bangi-dong. I figured it would be a bit quiet since it was Sunday lunch, but once we walked in there were more people eating than expected — I remember the two of us exchanging a surprised look!

Inside, the tables were lined up in a row, and it felt like a comfortable spot for two to sit and have lunch haha. The day after drinking, I'd rather just sit down and eat something hot without agonizing over the menu — and that's exactly what we did that day

Ordering sundae jiok and suyuk jiok for two

We both knew exactly what we wanted that day, so choosing didn't take long at all

I like sundae (Korean blood sausage) too, but that day I was craving pork jowl more, and my boyfriend picked the sundae version, so naturally we got to try one bite of each!

Table set with basic side dishes and rice

While we waited with the basic side dishes and rice set out, the red broth came out bubbling away! Being the day after drinking, that hot broth looked more welcome than usual..

We ordered the gukbap but also got a sundae sampler on the side! Just gukbap alone felt like it wasn't quite enough...

Is suyuk jiok the best hangover bowl here?

My pork jowl hell soup had that fun combination of spicy broth eaten together with pork

At first I had a few spoonfuls of broth in a row, then fished out the pork and added rice, and my spoon got pretty busy hahaha

I especially like taking a bite of meat and then going right back for another spoonful of hot broth, so pork jowl hell soup was the better pick for me that day!

I also tasted a bite of my boyfriend's sundae hell soup partway through

My boyfriend, who loves sundae, kept saying he'd picked well and kept eating, and I went right back to my own pork jowl hell soup hahaha

It's a spicy dish, so if you usually prefer mild broths your taste might differ, but I'm all for it.. The sundae sampler comes with 3 lines of differently colored sundae, and each one tastes different! I'm a total glutton so I loved them all♥️ so addictive

Would we return to Boseung Hoegwan in Bangi-dong?

This wasn't my first time at Boseung Hoegwan — I already come here fairly often!! If they had a points card, we'd really put it to good use..whew! hahahahahaha

So this time it was a sponsored visit, but separate from that, I feel like I'll be back for the pork jowl hell soup whenever I'm craving it in Bangi-dong! Especially on days when I'm trying to figure out lunch after drinking the night before, I think the pork jowl hell soup I had that day will be the first thing that comes to mind.. actually not just sometimes, I think about it almost every day because it was that good^^^^^♥️

My boyfriend with his sundae hell soup and me with my pork jowl hell soup — we each picked our favorite and ate until we were full on that Sunday lunch!! Next time, even if it's not the day after drinking, I plan to stop by again whenever I'm craving spicy broth! If you're looking for gukbap in Bangi-dong, definitely go to Boseung Hoegwan..♥️
