Seongsu café for an evening choco latte with my daughter: Childish
In short
Childish is a dessert café on the second floor of a building on Yeonmujang-gil in Seongdong, Seoul, where the 100% rice-flour salted taiyaki (fish-shaped bread) is baked to order. On a weekend evening with her daughter, the writer shared Taiwanese mango bingsu at 22,900 won, buljangnan cream coffee and buljangnan choco latte at 6,900 won each, the mammoth chewy salted taiyaki at 7,000 won, pizza salted taiyaki and salted bread rusk. Menus can sell out by evening, so a daytime visit is the safer bet, but the mammoth chewy salted taiyaki at Childish was the best dessert she has had.

🥯 A Seongsu dessert café recommendation for salted bread and taiyaki lovers: Childish

Childish on Yeonmujang-gil: a Seongsu café that bakes taiyaki to order
A Seongsu dessert café I have to recommend — Childish! Weekend in Seongsu, dinner first, then coffee at a café afterward — the national routine, haha. This Seongsu dessert café spot, Childish, actually bakes taiyaki (fish-shaped bread) in-house? In a café? I already love taiyaki, but I never expected to meet my all-time favorite dessert here.

Inside Childish: a second-floor space made for tables of 2 to 4
The Childish café is adorably pretty — a healing space that's perfect for 2–4 people sitting and chatting.¤¤¤

There are taiyaki-shaped bread decorations and more scattered around — so cute. Would be great to bring kids here too.

A window seat for two — you can watch the view outside while a couple sits and chats on a date, that'd be nice.

Taiwanese mango bingsu, 22,900 won: shaved ice made with 100% milk
The Childish Taiwanese mango bingsu (shaved ice dessert) arrived. Taiwanese-style mango bingsu — 100% milk!!! I prefer milk-based bingsu over ice-based ones. It just feels softer and the flavor is richer somehow. Childish's bingsu is milk, so pass!!

I thought the price of the bingsu was a bit steep at first, then I was shocked by the size, shocked by the visuals, shocked by the taste ☺️ One whole apple mango on top!!! Not a wasted won on either the taste or the presentation.
Everyone who orders the bingsu comes out going wow~wow!!! (I was one of the wow-ers too 🤣) And everyone's scrambling to take 📷 photos!! It's generous enough for 3–4 people to share.
I highly recommend getting the mango bingsu. Though I don't even need to recommend it — every neighboring table was ordering it too, the word's already out. 😃 Childish has plenty more menu items I'll be recommending — so busy, so busy! Everything was so good, 100% would come back.
Buljangnan cream coffee, 6,900 won, and the marshmallow my daughter took

🔥 Buljangnan cream coffee. The visuals on this buljangnan (playing-with-fire) cream coffee are no joke — a marshmallow on top for decoration, with a soft crunchy piece next to it. Eating it alongside the coffee is next level~♤♤

I was going to eat the marshmallow first, but my daughter snatched it away~ 😢 Sweetheart, your mom likes marshmallows too~~~ 🤣 A toasted marshmallow is so good...

You absolutely must try the buljangnan cream coffee too — the cream on top is completely soft, and the coffee underneath is rich; mixed together it tastes like an einspänner~ So good, so good ❤️ I've been drinking einspänner for a while now, but now I think I'll switch to buljangnan cream ☕️ coffee¤¤

At Childish they don't hand you a pre-made taiyaki — they bake it fresh the moment you order. So the salted bread x taiyaki you get is fresh, warm, and even more delicious for it.
Buljangnan choco latte, 6,900 won: rich chocolate, not watery

🔥 Buljangnan choco latte. Doesn't just looking at this buljangnan choco latte make you want a sip? Order a choco latte the wrong place and it comes out watery and flavorless, but Childish never skimps on ingredients — generous, rich, delicious 👍

The chocolate is rich, and with the milk's nutty, clean flavor added in, it was warm and delicious to drink~ ♡ My daughter took one sip and went, mmm~ that's the one~ 👌
The reason I recommend this Seongsu dessert café isn't just the taste — the visuals are unreal too~ Even with clumsy hands the photos come out pretty~ A café where both your 👀 and 👄 get to have fun — Childish!
Salted bread rusk, 3,500 won: often sold out by evening

Maybe because I went in the evening, but almost everything was sold out 😭 Go early! Only two mini rusk cookies were left, so I grabbed them quick! I'd recommend going in the daytime rather than the evening~ Still, I got to eat the delicious taiyaki, so I'm satisfied~
They're mini, so one bite and gone!! Sprinkled with sugar so it's sweet and crisp — you keep reaching for more~ Reach, reach~ 🎶 🎵 The perfect dessert to pair with coffee~ Would be great to carry around and snack on too.

A hot vanilla latte~ The weather's getting cooler bit by bit, so I naturally craved a warm coffee and ordered one. Creamy, smooth and rich as expected — good.
Salted bread x taiyaki, 4,500 won: the 100% rice-flour signature

Childish's signature Seongsu dessert café item — the salted bread x taiyaki. Baked right before serving, still warm, so the butter melts on top~ The butter itself is high-quality, and the flavor just explodes 💣

Did you know all of Childish's taiyaki are baked with 100% rice flour, not wheat flour? Nice to be able to eat a healthier taiyaki, and it'd make a great snack for kids too.

Because it's rice flour instead of wheat, it's even chewier, and the red bean paste isn't overly sweet — soft, with the butter's nutty flavor on top, genuinely delicious~ Honestly I didn't expect much, but I really liked it~

And there's salt in there to season it just right, with the outside crispy — crispy outside, chewy-moist inside, plus a nice chew ~^^ Being rice flour, my stomach also felt fine after eating. This taiyaki has become a proper upscale dessert~¡¡¡
Mammoth chewy salted taiyaki, 7,000 won: why it is my favorite dessert

🌼 Mammoth taiyaki. I highly, highly recommend the mammoth chewy salted taiyaki!! Jumping straight to the recommendation 🤣🤣🤣 I already loved the other taiyaki, but this mammoth chewy salted taiyaki has now become my all-time favorite dessert.

It's rare that I finish something and immediately want more, but this mammoth-chewy-taiyaki has become the dessert I keep wanting again — after getting home, and even the next day 🤦😂 I'll be going back to buy more soon 🚶♀️

It's got four fillings — mugwort rice cake, plain rice cake, red bean, and butter. See how big it is, palm-sized, and how thick? The mugwort rice cake here is genuinely soft, with a subtle mugwort flavor mild enough that even people who dislike mugwort might like it! Could easily double as a full meal.
Pizza salted taiyaki, 5,500 won: my daughter's pick

🍕 Pizza taiyaki. This is the pizza taiyaki my daughter chose. I never would have imagined pizza inside a taiyaki — such a clever idea.

🍕 Pizza sauce, cheese, even sweet potato mousse — it's a full-on pizza in there~ The pepperoni's salty kick balances the seasoning even more, and one bite tells you kids would love this flavor!
They also sell keyrings — taiyaki-shaped keyrings too~ So adorable~
