The older I get, the bigger my cheekbones seem to look… is it just me? ㅠㅠ I was so stressed about my cheekbones that I tried massaging them at home, but somehow my cheeks just sagged even more. On top of that I started noticing asymmetry too^^ so I finally felt like it was time for a professional's touch… I went to get treated at Beautae Esthetic, an esthetic near Myeongdong!! Here's my honest review of the head and neck relax treatment.

How to get to Beautae Esthetic from Gwanghwamun Station

I took the subway, and it was only about a 4-minute walk from Gwanghwamun Station Exit 5, so it was easy to get to! As you walk you'll see the Hyoryeong Building — just head up to the 6th floor. As soon as I walked in, the owner greeted me kindly haha.

The 1:1 consultation flagged my shoulder asymmetry first

Before the treatment started, we did a 1:1 consultation! I thought they'd just ask about my problem areas, but it was surprisingly detailed — checking my usual home care routine, whether I have any allergies, and so on. They carefully noted down my cheekbone concerns too^^ Please take care of me today…

My concern was, of course, protruding cheekbones + sagging cheeks ㅠㅠ so naturally I expected the treatment to focus on my face, but the therapist looked at me and immediately spotted the shoulder asymmetry before anything about my face!! She explained that asymmetry in the body can affect the face too, so rather than just treating the face, it's better to loosen everything from the shoulders to the scalp together. So that day we decided on the head and neck relax treatment! I came in for my cheekbones and ended up learning about my shoulder asymmetry too, that's me…^^ I really liked that they looked at my overall condition first instead of just going straight for the problem area I mentioned 👍

There was also this serious-looking machine on one side, and I wondered what it was — turned out it's a skin diagnosis device! It can measure everything from pores to skin age, and recommends care suited to your skin type based on the results. I really wanted to try it and find out my skin age, but the machine happened to be broken that day ㅠㅠ I was so curious how old my skin actually is… guess I'll find out next time haha.

The private treatment room, closet, and treatment gown

After the consultation, it was finally time to move to the treatment! The treatment room was set up as a private single room. There were several rooms so everyone could get treated privately. Everything was neatly organized overall, and there was even an air purifier, so the first impression was already pleasant~~ Now for the real treatment!

There was a separate closet where you could store your bag and clothes! I changed into the treatment gown and was ready to go. I was so eager to start that I changed super fast lol.

What the head and neck relax treatment actually felt like

The head and neck relax treatment officially began! At first they used this device where I held a piece of metal(?) in one hand lol while another device was applied to my skin. They explained it works by running a small current through the body, and hearing 'electricity' made me a little nervous at first. What would it feel like…

They applied gel first and worked evenly from the collarbone to the neck and shoulders. Interestingly, every time the device passed over, I felt a tingling sensation lol (not painful!). And when it touched the skin, air came out along with ampoule and laser output from the device, they explained. It helps with skin elasticity and condition, and is also good for flushing out waste products, apparently!

Loosening up the shoulder muscles felt so good~ Honestly I didn't expect a device treatment to feel that satisfying, but every time it passed over a tense spot it felt surprisingly good. I could literally watch the puffiness go down in real time during the treatment, which put me in a great mood… hehe.

Scalp care that doubles as facial lifting

After the shoulders, we moved on to scalp care! For the scalp they switched to a special scalp cap and combed through my hair with the device. The ampoule from the device contains protein, which they said can help with scalp care and hair loss prevention. And the way they kept lifting the scalp upward gave a lifting effect to my sagging face too! I came in for my face, and never expected my scalp to work this hard too… This was my first time getting this kind of device treatment, and as the current flowed my scalp tingled faintly. The intensity of the current changed depending on how much of that metal piece I held earlier, so it could be adjusted along the way.

After the device treatment, it finished with hand massage on the shoulders and neck! The device already felt great, but hands pressing in deep gave a whole different kind of relief! I felt a bit sad as the treatment wrapped up, I'm probably not the only one, right, sniff. Anyway, when I got up afterward, my whole body felt noticeably lighter, which felt great haha.

The before and after difference

The first thing I noticed after the treatment was that the facial heat had calmed down! Before, my face was overall on the redder side, but afterward it looked noticeably calmer. The photos show the before/after difference pretty clearly.

And it wasn't so much that my cheekbones shrank, but the sunken parts of my cheeks lifted up and filled out, so my cheekbones looked less prominent than before. My shoulders also looked less uneven left to right, and above all my body felt lighter, so I'm satisfied lol. For just one session, I'm happy with this result^^

Even after the treatment, they had it covered: the makeup room

There was a separate makeup room just outside the treatment room! They had a comb, hair spray, and even a hair iron ready — I love that kind of thoughtfulness ~.~

After fixing my hair, I was in such a good mood I took another photo haha.

On my way out, they even handed me a snack lol. My body got lighter from the massage, so time to refill on some sugar haha.
