Last weekend, I planned a little day date with a lovely dongsaeng (younger friend) I got close to at my old job, over in Gangnam near Sinsa! Gotta start with food, so I figured — for my picky-eater friend — we'd go to this famous tonkatsu spot!

Bottom line up front,

How to find Ikki Roll Katsu Garosu-gil Main Branch: 10 minutes from Sinsa Station Exit 8

Ikki Roll Katsu Garosu-gil Main Branch is within a 10-minute walk of Sinsa Station Exit 8, near Garosu-gil. It's on the basement floor of the building, and the inside was way cleaner and better decorated than the exterior suggested.

Ikki Roll Katsu... I remember it being famous way back in Hongdae! Seems like now only the Garosu-gil main branch is left...! Brought back memories, haha

Mil-tteok Factory is right next door, and you just open this wooden door here to go in.

We ordered (Couple Set B)

• Sweet Potato Cheese Katsu ₩15,500
• Rosé Katsu ₩15,500
• Jjolmyeon ₩11,000
• Butter Garlic Fries ₩6,500
• Green Grape Ade ₩7,000

We knew it'd be a lot, but we wanted to eat generously so that's what we did!

The free self-bar: shredded radish, pickled radish, broccoli soup and clear soup

At the self-bar on one side, you can grab julienned radish, pickled radish, broccoli soup, and broth,

and all the side dishes were tasty, which got our hopes up even more!!

The green grape ade came out quickly too, with a bit of actual fruit pulp to bite into — such a premium taste~

How do the rosé katsu and sweet potato cheese katsu taste?

Drumroll~ the full spread!! Wait, it comes out looking this good? This would be amazing for a solo lunch or dinner around Sinsa too!

The katsu was fried absolutely perfectly, and with the rosé sauce and sweet potato cheese it was so good we just ate in silence!

Honestly the visuals were so pretty too...!

Butter garlic fries and jjolmyeon: are the sides worth it?

The butter garlic fries were fried up nice and crispy too, and the sauce was insanely good ㅠㅠ They came out in such a huge portion that we had some left over, which in hindsight feels like such a waste...

It'd been a while since I'd had jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles), and it was so bouncy and sweet-tart that my chopsticks kept going back for more... a lunch that went from filling to straight-up overeating, haha

Plus there's a clean bathroom, so even people who are picky about restrooms can use this place comfortably!! Facilities, interior, taste, visuals, price — all top marks!!

Who should eat at Ikki Roll Katsu in Sinsa?

It's a great value spot for a solo lunch or dinner near Sinsa Station, and also perfect for a family meal out with kids!! Or a super comfortable vibe for couples on a Garosu-gil date~ And for groups or gatherings, need I say more!
