Munjeong lunch spot for mushroom pot rice and nurungji: Gome Mui
In short
Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong is a pot rice specialty Japanese restaurant on basement level 1 of Tera Tower Building A, right by Munjeong Station in Songpa, Seoul. Over lunch with her sister, the writer ordered the perilla oil mushroom pot rice for 14,000 won and the steak pot rice for 16,000 won, eating them with chive soy sauce, seaweed, wasabi and salted pollock roe before turning the leftover rice into nurungji (crispy scorched rice). A little while ago, my sister and I finally met up in the neighborhood after ages of missing each other because we were both so busy. Once our schedules lined up, we decided to grab lunch together. After some back and forth about what to eat, we settled on pot rice — something warm and wholesome instead of flour-based food for once! We headed to Gome Mui, famous as a Munjeong Station Tera Tower restaurant where office workers line up during lunch hour.

Where is Gome Mui? Basement 1 of Tera Tower Building A, Munjeong Station
Gome Mui is located right inside Munjeong Station Tera Tower, so it's super accessible. The warm, clean atmosphere hit me the moment I walked in — I really liked it. The wood-toned interior paired with soft lighting gave the space a comfortable feel.

We arrived a bit after the lunch rush, and even so, plenty of customers were already eating. I could really feel the popularity, since apparently office workers line up for this place at lunchtime. There's also a bar table, which seems great for solo dining.

What the writer and her sister ordered: two pot rice sets
Looking at the Gome Mui menu, there were all kinds of pot rice. We ordered the perilla oil mushroom pot rice for 14,000 won and the steak pot rice for 16,000 won.

I went with the healthy-feeling perilla oil mushroom pot rice, while my sister wanted something more filling with meat, so she ordered the steak pot rice. After a short wait, a neatly arranged pot rice table arrived. The moment the lid came off, the nutty aroma spread out and really got the appetite going.

Perilla oil mushroom pot rice, 14,000 won, with nurungji to finish
Gome Mui's perilla oil mushroom pot rice is 14,000 won, and it's loaded with all kinds of mushrooms — just looking at it made me feel healthier. The nutty aroma of perilla oil was outstanding. While scooping out the rice and pouring water into the pot to make nurungji (crispy scorched rice), I took a big spoonful straight from the pot — genuinely healthy and delicious enough to make me gasp.

The chewy texture of the mushrooms combined with the nutty perilla oil filled my mouth — really clean and delicious. I mixed in a little of the scallion soy sauce and also wrapped bites in seaweed; it wasn't overly seasoned but had a deep flavor I really liked.

Steak pot rice, 16,000 won, served with wasabi and salted pollock roe
My sister's order, the Gome Mui steak pot rice, is 16,000 won, and it was overwhelming just to look at. Thick slices of steak piled generously on top of the rice, along with an egg yolk and scallions, made it look even more mouthwatering.

I tried a piece of the meat first — really tender and juicy, and dipping it in the accompanying sauce brought out even more flavor. Mixed together with the rice, the savoriness of the steak and the slight sweetness of the rice made for a fantastic combination. Adding wasabi and salted pollock roe on top brought a spicy, salty kick that made it even more enjoyable.
