Being inside Lotte World Mall means it's well maintained, and the salon looks spotless even from outside! Very hygienic.

The waiting area is spacious too, and there's even an air purifier, so you can get your treatment done in comfort.

As soon as I arrived they gave me a drink — my throat hurt so I asked for warm water instead. They have Americano, mix coffee, roasted barley tea, green tea, and orange juice, so there's a bit of everything!

They even brought over a side table so I could drink comfortably while getting my hair done. So sweet, ㅠ_ㅠ. When I searched up designer koi beforehand, everyone raved about how detail-oriented she was — and on top of that she was so kind too. (*Absolute best.)

Hair before the perm: 4 months of frizz and a flat crown

This is the state of my hair after prepping for exams — total disaster. If frizz could take human form, this would be it. Straightening it with an iron every morning before work had reached its limit; my hair was so damaged and it took so much time. Please, save my hair, ㅠㅠ.

Out of the nearly 4-hour volume magic process, the biggest chunk of time went to straightening with the flat iron! Instead of grabbing big chunks, she worked through small sections strand by strand with real precision, and paid extra attention to the crown area over and over to properly bring the volume back — I was in awe. Moved, honestly. I think that careful attention is exactly why the results have held up so well ever since.

One week on: did the volume magic survive a Thailand trip?

And here's the long-awaited finished result. I love it so, so much. Out of all the hairstyles I've had recently, this is my favorite! It's been about a week since the treatment and it's still perfectly maintained — I went straight to Thailand right after getting it done, and this steel-strong volume magic even survived Thailand's notoriously hard water. My hair stays calm and smooth, my morning styling time has dropped to a quarter of what it used to take, and even just air-drying it leaves my hair glossy and flowing.
