I was craving samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) in Suyu and after looking around, I ended up at Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal. I'd seen this place mentioned a lot as a budget-friendly Suyu Station Korean BBQ restaurant, so I finally went to try it myself haha. What really caught my eye was the half pork belly, half pork neck 600g set for ₩29,000 — the price alone sounded great.

These days, that much meat for that price at a BBQ place is genuinely good value, so I was curious enough to visit lol. I ordered the half pork belly, half pork neck 600g and grilled it up nicely on the cauldron lid — the meat turned out more tender than I expected and tasted great, so I left satisfied. Let's get into my review of this Suyu spot, Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal~~!
Where is Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal, and what is it like inside?
Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal is close to Suyu Station, so it wasn't hard to find at all. It's a solid location for meeting up near Suyu Station and grabbing samgyeopsal together.

Walking in, there were more tables than I expected, and the whole place had that cozy, familiar Korean BBQ vibe. It seemed like a good spot for grabbing meat with friends or dining with a group haha.

Every table had a huge cauldron lid set up, which made me think I was in for some serious meat today lol. There's just something about grilling on a cauldron lid that makes it taste even better haha.
Menu and prices at Suyu Daewang, a Korean BBQ near Suyu Station

What I ordered was the half pork belly, half pork neck 600g! Half pork belly, half pork neck 600g for ₩29,000. Honestly, the price alone was really good.

These days at samgyeopsal places, the bill adds up fast after just a few bites, so 600g for ₩29,000 is much easier on the wallet, especially for a group! I also liked being able to eat pork belly and pork neck together haha. Eating only pork belly can get a little tiresome after a while, but having pork neck alongside it meant I could switch between the two cuts, which was great.
Grilling the 600g half pork belly, half pork neck on the cauldron lid
After a short wait, the thick-cut meat arrived. Both the pork belly and pork neck had noticeable thickness, so they looked appetizing right away. And with 600g, the portion looked generous too haha.
They grilled the meat on the cauldron lid until golden brown. Hearing that sizzle as the meat cooked made me glad I'd come for Korean BBQ lol. Once the meat was cooked through, they cut it into bite-sized pieces and grilled it golden on both sides.
How does the cauldron-lid pork at Suyu Daewang taste?

I tried the pork belly first since I was most excited about it, and the meat was so tender. With the thickness, I thought it might be a bit chewy, but it was more tender than expected and the flavor of the meat itself was good too. The outside was grilled golden with a slight crispiness, while the inside stayed tender, which made it great to eat with rice haha.

You have to wrap samgyeopsal lol. Putting the meat on lettuce with kimchi worked so well together, with the savory pork belly complemented by the kimchi's flavor. Eating it with all these extras rather than just the meat alone kept me reaching for more haha.

While the pork belly had a nice savory richness from the fat, the pork neck felt a bit leaner in comparison! That said, it wasn't dry at all — it was surprisingly tender to chew, and I enjoyed the pork neck too.

Personally, alternating between pork belly and pork neck kept things from getting boring and I just kept eating lol. If you love samgyeopsal, I'd recommend ordering pork neck alongside it too and trying both cuts.
Is 29,000 won for 600g good value in Gangbuk?

What I liked most about Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal was the price. Half pork belly, half pork neck 600g for ₩29,000 — considering current prices, it's definitely easy on the wallet.

Being affordable didn't mean the meat quality suffered either — it was tender and tasty, so overall I was satisfied. If you're planning to grab samgyeopsal with friends in Suyu and want to eat generously without breaking the bank, I think this is a solid choice haha.
The self-serve wrap bar, and would we go back to Suyu Daewang?

What stuck with me most about Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal was the generous 600g portion at ₩29,000. I also liked being able to eat pork belly and pork neck together, and the meat was more tender and tasty than expected — overall a satisfying meal haha.

On top of that, being able to freely grab vegetables and wrap greens from the self-serve corner is a total win!! That wraps up my genuinely satisfied review of this Suyu samgyeopsal spot!! Hope it helps if you're planning a visit~~!
