I wanted a hearty meat lunch, so I went to Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal, a well-known BBQ restaurant near Suyu Station. I drove there, and since parking was available, this seemed like the easy choice.

Two signs out front: how to find Suyu Daewang the first time
Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal has its own sign underneath a sign that reads 'Eat Cow, Then Pig' (소 먹으면 돼지). I was a bit thrown before even walking in. I'd definitely come to the right place, but the sign right in front of me said 'Eat Cow, Then Pig.' Wait, is this right? Did I come to the wrong spot? I checked again and...

The top sign said 'Eat Cow, Then Pig,' and below it was a separate sign for Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal. If you're visiting for the first time like I was, it might trip you up a little, so keep an eye out for both signs haha.

What's on the menu at Suyu Daewang, and what it costs

We ordered a 600g plate of aged whole pork belly for ₩29,000, crab miso stew, and one bowl of rice.
Here's the Suyu Daewang Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal menu.
- Aged raw whole pork belly / aged raw whole pork neck / half-and-half ₩29,000
- Aged whole pork jowl ₩12,000
- Honeycomb tripe ₩9,000
- Thin-sliced pork belly ₩9,900
- Table setting fee ₩2,000 per person

The main menu prices here are pretty solid value! We came for lunch, so we skipped alcohol and focused on the meat and rice. Side dishes and vegetables are self-serve, so you can grab as much as you like.

The vegetables in particular are an unlimited refill, so anyone who loves wrapping their meat in lettuce will be happy. It's great being able to load up on vegetables while eating samgyeopsal (pork belly) at a Korean BBQ spot near Suyu Station.
Is the 168-hour aged whole pork belly thick but still tender?
After a short wait, the thick whole pork belly arrived. The thickness alone made it look delicious even before hitting the pan. This restaurant uses grade-1 pork that's been low-temperature aged for 168 hours.

They put the pork belly on the big cauldron lid and grilled it together with kimchi and bean sprouts — it looked hearty just to watch. Since the meat was so thick, I was a little worried it might be tough.

But once I tasted it, there was no pork smell at all, and the texture was soft — I think families could come here and not go wrong. Even cut into thick pieces it wasn't overwhelming; the meaty chew and tenderness were nicely balanced, which I really liked.

If thickness and texture matter to you when looking for Korean BBQ near Suyu Station, this seems like a solid pick.
Blue crab doenjang stew and rice: enough for a full lunch
When you're eating pork belly, you start craving a warm soup and rice, right? We ordered crab miso stew and rice too, making it a filling lunch.

A bite of meat, a spoonful of rice, then a taste of the miso stew — they really went well together. Even without alcohol, this lunch was plenty satisfying.

The owner who runs the whole room alone

Another thing that stood out while eating was the owner. Even handling several tables alone, they were incredibly fast.

There was a real veteran vibe, like someone who's been doing this for a long time. Watching them handle everything solo, like a one-person army, was oddly reassuring.
Final verdict on pork belly lunch at Suyu Daewang

Easy parking, and a 600g whole pork belly plate for ₩29,000 — the value was good. Above all, the 168-hour low-temperature aged pork belly was thick yet never tough, soft and enjoyable.

You can also freely grab vegetables and side dishes from the self-serve corner, which makes for a satisfying spread. If you're looking for Korean BBQ near Suyu Station, this aged whole pork belly is worth trying.

It's great as a hearty lunch like we had, but I also think it'd be nice to come back in the evening for cauldron-lid pork belly with a light drink.
