If you're craving tonkatsu in Suyu, this is the place: Katsu Shokudou Suyu. My boyfriend and I were on a date around Suyu Station and really wanted tonkatsu, so we stopped by!

Since they serve Japanese-style handmade tonkatsu, I was curious how different it would be from the usual donkatsu I'm used to.

What comes in the 33,000-won set for two?
That day I visited with my boyfriend, so we ordered the set menu for two!

The set for two is ₩33,000. It comes with rosu katsu, hire katsu, mini udon, mini soba, and curry — a great composition for sharing between two people. The tonkatsu was so delicious and tender from the very first bite that I was genuinely moved ໒꒰՞ ܸ. .ܸ՞꒱ა

There was even a note on the table about the best way to eat it, so I tried following it step by step — and for me, dipping it in the curry sauce was the tastiest way! The rich curry flavor paired so well with the tonkatsu that I kept reaching for more.
With one order per person, you get free refills on rice, salad, and curry 👍🏻 Nicely done, owner ★★★★★
My boyfriend and I split the udon and the soba between us, and it let us enjoy a wider range of flavors compared to just eating tonkatsu alone — the set for two felt like great value.
TMI | Patented low-temperature yuzu aging and yuzu wasabi
Katsu Shokudou Suyu says it ages its tonkatsu using a patented low-temperature yuzu aging process. It's a method of aging the meat at low temperatures using yuzu, and apparently this process brings out more texture and flavor in the meat.

Maybe that's why the meat felt soft and moist rather than dry when I ate it. For tonkatsu, a crispy coating matters, but so does how moist the meat inside is — the crispy outside and tender inside worked really well together, and it was delicious.
The yuzu wasabi was also a bit different from regular wasabi! There was a subtle yuzu aroma added to the sharp wasabi kick, giving it a refreshing, clean feel. Dabbed lightly on the tonkatsu, it cut through the richness nicely — personally, I thought it paired really well.
Final verdict — a tonkatsu spot worth keeping for a Suyu date
I'd recommend this for a Suyu date spot! I visited with my boyfriend this time, and with the clean interior and neatly presented food, it was a solid choice for a date in Suyu.

The atmosphere is comfortable enough for solo dining too, so it seems like a good fit for anyone looking for a place to eat alone in Suyu, or for lunch, dinner, dates, or gatherings.
I especially loved the combination of tonkatsu with yuzu wasabi, so next time I want to try other menu items too. This is definitely a Suyu tonkatsu spot I'll remember and want to revisit :)
