I'm often stuck on what to eat for lunch around Songhyeon-a, so I was curious about Sushi Doku The Songdo's concept of authentic aged sushi and 100% live cooking — honest review haha!
Where is Sushi Doku The Songdo, and what are its hours?
Sushi Doku The Songdo is on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall, 157 Songdo-guksaero, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. It's open Mon–Sun 11:00–21:00, last order 20:15, with break time weekdays (Mon–Fri) 15:00–17:00 and weekends (Sat–Sun) 14:30–17:00.
If you arrive by subway, come out at Songhyeon-a and head straight toward the restroom side near Olive Young — Onesta Mall shows up right there! Head up to the 2nd floor.

Access was really good, and since Songdo Hyundai Outlet and Triple Street are nearby too, it's easy to combine with a shopping trip!

Curtain-divided seats and a private room at Sushi Doku
The interior at Sushi Doku The Songdo was clean, and the curtain dividers gave it a more private feel — you could eat and chat without interference from the next table. Apparently there's a room too!!
What's on the menu at Sushi Doku The Songdo?

The menu ranges from sushi sets to sashimi you can take out, so it works great for lunch and also seems good for dinner with a drink. Delivery is available too!!

At Sushi Doku they brush soy sauce onto the sushi with this cute little brush!! It means the rice doesn't get soaked in soy sauce — clean and easy to eat.
The 25,900 won premium sushi set, with salad and udon refills

*Premium sushi set, ₩25,900, ta-da!!! The sushi looked impressive right from the start... You can choose to add or omit wasabi when ordering — I ordered mine without and adjusted with the wasabi served on the side! All the sushi at Sushi Doku is sourced same-day and served same-day, made fresh in an open kitchen by the chef, which made me even more excited T_T
The set comes with salad, udon, karaage, and fried shrimp *salad and udon are refillable! Udon lovers will be so happy — a lot of places make you pay extra for udon, but here it's included as a default and refillable!!

And then this truffle chawanmushi T_T Bouncy, silky steamed egg with shrimp and ginkgo nuts, drizzled with truffle oil on top for extra aroma and umami! Now on to the real sushi review!!
How did the 10 pieces of sushi taste, cut by cut?
You brush on the soy sauce with that same brush from before, like this!! haha 🍣10 pieces total🍣

🍣Flounder: chewy with a subtle umami

🍣Salmon: soft, thick, and delicious

🍣Sweet shrimp: rich, nutty flavor

🍣Akami (tuna): melts softly with umami

- 🍣Red snow crab: moist with a subtle sweetness
- 🍣Squid: chewy and full of umami
- 🍣Ankimo (monkfish liver): rich, buttery, nutty
- 🍣Northern pink shrimp: firm and sweet

- 🍣Eel: melts softly on the tongue
- 🍣Red sea bream: firm and clean, pairs well with ankimo
You could really feel that umami unique to aged sushi. When I used to eat at conveyor-belt sushi places, all the ingredients kind of tasted the same, but here the texture and flavor were clearly different piece by piece, which made it fun to eat through them one at a time!!

Otoro sushi from the Naver review event
And then the otoro sushi I got from the Naver review event!! 1 piece for one person writing a review, 2 pieces for two people, so if you write reviews for however many people are in your group, you can each try a piece!!

Definitely write a review and try it — being real otoro, the fat was just right, soft and smooth with amazing umami T_T
Is Sushi Doku The Songdo worth a visit?
Overall, Sushi Doku The Songdo was great across the board — fresh ingredients, live cooking on the spot, and a cozy atmosphere! If you've been looking for a Songdo sushi restaurant, or trying to figure out where to go for an anniversary or date, I'd recommend Sushi Doku The Songdo~!!
