Songdo sushi restaurant with group tables and fresh wasabi: Sushi Doku

In short

Sushi Doku The Songdo is a sushi restaurant on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, a 1-minute walk from Exit 2 of Technopark Station and connected underground to Songhyeona (Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo). On a repeat visit the premium sushi set (₩25,900) arrived as one tray with 10 pieces of sushi, udon, truffle-scented chawanmushi, karaage and fried shrimp. With a soy sauce brush, a generous pile of fresh wasabi, group tables and high chairs, Sushi Doku The Songdo works just as well for a team dinner as for a meal with kids.

Songhyeona Sushi favorite, visiting Songdo restaurant Sushi Doku The Songdo for the Nth time.

Where is Sushi Doku The Songdo, and when is it open?

Songdo favorite Sushi Doku The Songdo is on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall, a 1-minute walk from Exit 2 of Technopark Station, and since Technopark Station connects underground to both Songhyeona and Onesta Mall, it's an extremely accessible Songdo sushi spot.

Hours 11:00 ~ 21:00 (break time 14:30 ~ 17:00) / 2 hours free parking in the building lot / Naver reservations available (parties of 6+) / Catchtable remote waitlist available / Baby chair O

Onesta Mall has both an elevator and an escalator, so getting up to the 2nd floor is quick! Right at the top of the escalator, Songdo favorite Sushi Doku The Songdo was right in front of me. This sushi spot started in Seongsu and stays popular in Songdo too, so if you go right at lunchtime on a weekend there's basically always a wait of 5+ parties — worth checking Catchtable before you head over~

Inside Sushi Doku The Songdo: 4-seat tables, group tables and plum tea

Walk inside and right in front is a spacious hall with neatly arranged 4-person tables. There's nice, soft spacing between tables too, so it's also a great pick for a Songdo date restaurant. On the left wall there are group tables set up, so it's a good place for a Songdo sashimi work dinner in the evening.

There's also warm plum tea to drink after your meal, so it's fully covered right down to dessert — Songdo sushi favorite, Songhyeona favorite, Sushi Doku The Songdo.

How to order the ₩25,900 premium sushi set

You order through the kiosk at your table, and if you write a Naver receipt review you can get premium sushi (otoro sushi) — so make sure to get that and enjoy the premium sushi!

I ordered the premium sushi set (₩25,900), which is just the right amount without being too much — everything from udon to fried food and salad on one tray! There's also a kids' menu, and theme sushi if you want just one type of sushi.

Menu board for the premium sushi set

Seems like most people order this one~ It came out almost right away, and isn't it just so generous while still looking neat!? haha The set is salad / karaage & fried shrimp / soy sauce / pickled ginger & rakkyo / chawanmushi / udon / 10 pieces of sushi — a great lineup for really experiencing Japanese food properly.

What's in the 10-piece sushi lineup?

From left: salmon / red seabream / tuna / squid / flounder / red seabream / snow crab meat / sweet shrimp / eel / ankimo (monkfish liver), and they give you really generous fresh wasabi.

Salad and truffle chawanmushi (savory steamed egg custard)

Better eat the fiber first so I feel a little less guilty right!? haha The sesame sauce is sweet and tasty.

Next up? Melting into the warm, subtly truffle-scented chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) — it has mini cocktail shrimp and ginkgo nuts in it.

How to use the soy sauce brush on your sushi

At Sushi Doku The Songdo they give you a thin brush for the sushi — you dip the brush in soy sauce and brush it on evenly. Isn't that such a great idea!? haha

What I liked most about Sushi Doku The Songdo was being able to apply the soy sauce evenly like this. The squid especially... it's so soft it just melts in your mouth, ugh.

Udon, karaage and fried shrimp on the tray

Halfway through, if you want something hot and soupy, just go for the udon — it's got a mild kick that cuts right through the richness of everything else. There's even a cute Nemo fish cake in it haha

The karaage (fried chicken) already has sauce drizzled on it so you can just bite straight in, and it's made with tender thigh meat instead of dry breast so it doesn't feel greasy at all — the fried shrimp is super crispy too haha

Saving the salmon and ankimo (monkfish liver) for last

My favorite combination of the three I ate last — Songdo favorite Sushi Doku The Songdo's salmon pieces are especially huge, filling your whole mouth, and the ankimo is packed generously too, great eaten as a gunkan with the seaweed flavor!!
