Songpa weekend lunch restaurant with peppercorn pork steak: Allegro

My husband and I wanted a weekend lunch date somewhere with a nice atmosphere, so while looking for good restaurants in Songpa I found the newly opened Allegro. We booked ahead through Catchtable, and since it's a new spot, the place was spotless and the food was satisfying overall — I really wanted to recommend it to anyone looking for a date spot around Jamsil these days.

Allegro is a short walk from Songpa Naru Station, so it's easy to get to by public transit. Since it was the weekend, we booked ahead on Catchtable just in case there was a wait — if you're going for a date or an anniversary, I'd definitely recommend reserving first.

Evening live music at Allegro and the live charge

And here's what really sets Songpa restaurant Allegro apart — the evening live music. In the evening there's a live performance, and there's a separate per-person live charge if you visit during show hours.

We went for lunch so we didn't get to see the show, but seeing the stage and instruments set up inside made me think the evening atmosphere must be pretty great. Next time I definitely want to have a glass of wine and catch the performance. Instead, we got to properly enjoy the downtown Jamsil view through the window on a sunny day. :)

What is the atmosphere like inside Allegro?

The first thing I noticed walking in was just how clean everything was, as you'd expect from a newly opened place. The interior wasn't overly flashy, but the lighting, tables, and small decor pieces all felt stylish together — totally recommend it as a Songpa restaurant and Jamsil date spot! Even the bathroom was so nice and clean, it was touching — they even had disposable mouthwash in there!!

The weather was especially nice that day, so the sunlight coming through the windows was lovely. With the Jamsil skyline visible outside, even a weekend lunch felt subtly atmospheric. I personally prefer places where you can talk and eat at a relaxed pace rather than a crowded restaurant, so this Songpa spot won me over even more for that.

What two people ordered at Allegro and what it cost

We ordered these three dishes between the two of us!

• Seafood salad ₩20,000
• Puttanesca pasta ₩19,000
• Sous-vide pork neck steak ₩33,000

One salad, one pasta, one steak — the perfect combination for a date, and just the right amount for the two of us.

Seafood salad, 20,000 won

The seafood salad came out first. It had more variety than I expected — shrimp, octopus, sea grapes, bell peppers, and onion — and the tangy lime sauce paired really well with the seafood.

Rather than a heavy dressing, it had a light, fresh feel that was perfect for waking up your appetite before the meal!

It was my first time trying sea grapes too, and the crunchy texture was fun haha.

It went so well with the bread served alongside it that I kept reaching for more.

Puttanesca pasta, 19,000 won

This pasta is anchovy and tomato based, and I was a bit worried it might be too salty because of the anchovies, but it wasn't harsh at all, contrary to what I expected.

The tomato sauce wasn't too heavy or sweet, and the anchovies, olives, and capers added a savory depth that made it easy to keep eating without feeling weighed down.

These days I prefer pasta where the natural flavor of the ingredients comes through instead of an overly strong sauce, so this suited my taste perfectly. I think anyone looking for a good Western restaurant in Jamsil would like this dish without much argument.

Sous-vide pork neck steak with peppercorn sauce, 33,000 won

Given Jamsil prices, I worried the steak might be small, but a genuinely large whole cut of pork neck arrived, so it passed the portion test right away! Pork neck can easily turn dry since it's mostly lean meat, but cooking it sous-vide made the inside really tender.

But most of all, the creamy peppercorn sauce that came with it was genuinely delicious!! Dipping the pork neck generously into the sauce was such a great combo that I scraped up every last bit of leftover sauce.

All three dishes were delicious, but if I had to order just one again, I'd pick the sous-vide pork neck steak.

Is Allegro in Songpa worth a second visit?

Overall, Songpa restaurant Allegro was satisfying — the food wasn't overly heavy, and the atmosphere was clean and pleasant. It's a great spot for a relaxed Jamsil date at lunch, and the appeal of evening live music makes it even more attractive. Next time, I'd love to time a visit around the evening show and have some wine with it.
