It had been a while since I'd been out to Oido. I visited two years ago, so it brought back old memories, and the heat had finally eased off, making it a great day for a stroll. I went in the morning, and once I got hungry looking at the sea, eel came to mind — so I headed to Songnim Bok Jangeo near Oido Station!

Q. Do you have to eat only eel?

This was the part I personally found fun about Songnim Bok Jangeo in Siheung Baegot. You can grill pork belly and chicken neck alongside the eel, so you can switch things up as you go.

When the food first came out, having eel and meat prepared together made for a pretty generous-looking spread. Beyond the main dishes, the side dishes were solid too, and paired well with the eel, pork belly, and chicken neck~

For this Oido eel refill plan, the eel, pork belly, and chicken neck all come out together on a long plate. Even just looking at it, the quality seemed great.

Looking at the eel, the flesh was firm and the pieces were sizable — once grilled on the pan, the flesh turned a nice golden brown and was truly delicious. It had been a while since I'd had eel, and I could tell I'd keep thinking about it.

And here's what the accompanying pork belly and chicken neck looked like.

Eel itself tends to be a bit fatty, so once the pan heated up, watching it turn golden brown really got my appetite going. Watching it brown on the grill in person is genuinely mouthwatering!

The eel was cut into long strips, so it had real presence on the grill, while the pork belly and chicken neck were relatively easy to grill and enjoy alongside it. The eel flesh was so plump that from a distance it almost looked like pork belly, haha.

Just watching it grill made me feel like coming here for the eel refill plan was really the right call. Biting into that plump eel flesh — ah, once you know that taste, you just want more. I took a bunch of photos of this Oido eel refill spread and also filmed it in detail on video. Looking back at it now, since it's evening, I'm getting hungry again, ugh.

How refills work: order only as much as you'll eat

What I liked most about Songnim Bok Jangeo was that you're not just eating eel — you can enjoy chicken neck and pork belly alongside it, plus it's all-you-can-eat. You can eat as much as you want, unlimited!

What I appreciated most about this Siheung eel refill plan was that if you're running low on eel while eating, you can just order more and grill it fresh. Rather than piling on a huge amount at once, grilling and eating small batches as you go meant I got to enjoy the texture and flavor while it was hot, which made it taste even better.

How did the eel at Songnim Bok Jangeo taste?

At first I just ate the eel plain, and the texture was insane, with rich, plentiful flesh that made for an outstanding flavor. Since eel is a somewhat fatty food, pairing it with the sauce added a sweet, salty note that brought out even more umami.

Being freshwater eel, the flavor was deeper and better. The eel's soft, savory taste, the pork belly's rich meaty flavor, and the chicken neck's chewy texture were all distinct, which made cycling through the three genuinely fun. If you're looking for eel in Oido but also want to enjoy a variety of meats alongside it, this kind of setup is worth keeping in mind.

Is Songnim Bok Jangeo worth a weekday lunch? Final verdict

What stuck with me most from this eel meal was being able to enjoy pork belly and chicken neck alongside the eel, plus the quality and flavor of the main eel itself — totally satisfied!! If you're searching for eel in Oido and looking for a place to visit, or if you get hungry after wandering around Oido, this is a great spot to drop by for lunch or dinner~
