The moment I arrived at Slow But Barrel Daegu, the first thing that caught my eye was the massive outdoor terrace space. It was plenty big enough to escape the stuffy city and really enjoy some relaxation.

In particular, the terrace has three huge grass-covered pyramid structures that give the space an exotic feel.

On a nice day, I'd strongly recommend grabbing an outdoor seat and just taking it easy.

Thanks to the huge space, this is also an excellent Daegu bakery café for getting fresh air with a kid who loves to run around without feeling cramped.

Seasonal bakery and seasonal fruit drinks, eating with a baby

Since it's close to home, I drop by fairly often, and one of the biggest reasons I keep coming back to Slow But Barrel Daegu is definitely the taste of the bread and drinks.

True to being a great Daegu bakery café, they use top-grade French butter and cream, so the bread has really wonderful flavor. The variety isn't huge, but the lineup changes substantially each season, so there's the pleasure of trying new bread whenever the seasons turn.

The drinks, made with a variety of seasonal fruit, are also fun to pick from, making this a solid Daegu dessert café too.

To share with our Hasol, who's grown so much at 19 months now, I ordered a soft seasonal bakery item and a fruit drink.

Since our baby now eats regular food, I always end up worrying about what to feed her at cafés — so I was really grateful when I asked them to leave out the syrup and they happily obliged.

Paired with a healthy, not-too-sweet seasonal fruit drink, Hasol ate it all up happily, which made mom and dad pretty proud.

How the dog-friendly space is divided

Another appealing point about Slow But Barrel Daegu is that there's a separate dedicated space where you can bring your lovable dog.

Maybe because word has spread about this dog-friendly Daegu café, I saw plenty of people out with their dogs on the weekend. The terrace's indoor and outdoor zones are well divided so pets can stay comfortably,

and it stood out how thoughtfully they let regular guests enjoy the café space without any worry too. Our Hasol really loves dogs,

but we haven't been able to bring ourselves to actually keep one at home, which has always been a bit of a letdown. But here at this dog-friendly Daegu café, I could politely ask the owners for permission and let her watch the well-behaved dogs up close, which was really lovely.

Watching our girl giggle and light up at a dog wagging its tail made me happy right along with her.

True to being a large Daegu café, the spaces are well separated so both kids and dogs can stay comfortable.
