Caffeine Focus is a new café in Haenggung-dong I'd always wanted to visit. As expected, the view was gorgeous and the café atmosphere was great too.

By the way, this place is known for its sourdough ciabatta.

The walk to Caffeine Focus is really pretty too. It's a bit away from the Haenggung-dong main street, closer to the fortress wall, so there aren't many people — it has such a calm, quiet vibe.

There's also outdoor seating on the 1st floor — tables and chairs. It would've been even more perfect without the cars, but it's still a nice spot to sit with a coffee looking at the greenery.

What bread does Caffeine Focus bake?

They told me the owner bakes and makes the bread fresh every morning. Maybe that's why the ciabatta was so chewy, light, and delicious.

How many floors does Caffeine Focus have?

This Hwaseong Fortress-view café is a standalone building spanning 1st to 3rd floor. There are restrooms on both the 1st and 3rd floors, which I loved. They're unisex, but just having two restrooms already makes things pretty convenient :)

Since it faces the direction of the sunset, the sun comes in straight on. It'd probably be a bit much to sit here during the day, but after the sun goes down, it seems perfect for a warm coffee while watching the night view. Just imagining it feels romantic.

Both the 2nd and 3rd floors have cold ice water, napkins, and blankets available. Great touch from the owner.

The window seats are the main spot, but why do I always prefer a corner like this? Partly because I don't want anyone seeing what I'm doing on my laptop, haha. One great thing about this Hwaseong Fortress-view café is that outlets are really well placed at every single seat! Great for laptop work too.

I secretly filmed a bit of my work in a vlog-style way~ I took a lot of video that day. Usually when I film a lot, it's because the moment feels so good I want to remember it for a long time. The day I visited Caffeine Focus was exactly that kind of day.

The weather was nice, the coffee and sandwich were delicious, the café's inside atmosphere was cozy and chatty — it was, hmm, a really comfortable, peaceful time.

What time to go to Caffeine Focus for the sunset

I arrived around 5:30pm that day — before the sunset! I got there around that time, had a sandwich and coffee, did some work, and by then it was around 6:30–7:00. From here on, these are the photos right as the sunset hit.

Not a painting, not edited — thinking back on it, it really was that beautiful.

I was the only one on the 3rd floor, and it felt like such a shame that I was the only one enjoying this pretty scenery and mood.

This is my favorite time of day. When the warm sunset light comes in. The kind of time that makes you just want to nap at home.

There were photographers there to shoot the sunset and night view, and honestly, it really was that pretty that day. The terrace and window seats with the light pouring in were amazing.

Caffeine Focus verdict: any drawbacks?

[ Would 100% visit again ] Both owners were gentle and calm, and the café atmosphere speaks for itself. Clean and full of romance. My mind had been a mess for a while, but that day, for once, I just spent time with no thoughts at all, looking at the view and eating something delicious. It was so nice :)

Also, I saw they had chocolate ciabatta — I wish there was a chocolate ciabatta sandwich too! The sandwich was really, really good, so it was a bit of a shame there's only one sandwich option on the menu. Still, delicious and lovely all the same.
