Sunae Station kalguksu with perilla dipping sauce: Myeongyeok Sunae

We went to Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae near Sunae Station for weekend lunch with the kids!!

From kalguksu to naengmyeon to chicken tenderloin katsu, the menu's varied enough ~~ that it seemed like a good spot to eat with kids 🫧👍🏻

The place was bigger than expected with generous space between tables, so it looked good for solo dining, dates, family meals, or group hangouts!

Arriving at opening time for weekend lunch at Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae

We did an opening run to Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae for the weekend lunch opening time 🏃🏻 At first we could eat pretty relaxed, but as we ate, customers started trickling in one by one 🙂

🅿️ Where do you park near Sunae Station?

You get 2 hours free parking if you use the Hyundai Pantheon building lot!

The building was being repainted during our visit, so we used the rear parking entrance on the Tancheon Stream side~~

If you're driving, the entrance may change depending on whether construction is happening, so keep that in mind ⭐️

Why Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae works for a meal with kids

What I liked most about visiting Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae with the kids was how many menu items were kid-friendly~~!

Beyond kalguksu, there are dishes kids love, like chicken tenderloin katsu ❤️

It was great for eating with the kids haha

Our kids ate the chicken katsu and kalguksu really well 😊

The restaurant also felt comfortable for a family visit 😍

On the table there were various sauces like mustard sauce and dadaegi (spicy chili paste), so we could season things to our taste

🥢 What's on the self-serve bar

Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae has a self-serve bar set up!

At the self-serve bar you can get diced radish kimchi, pickled radish, warm broth, and rice~🥰

The warm broth was especially nice to sip on, and it went well alongside the spicy mixed naengmyeon haha

The kimchi comes out separately in its own earthenware pot, and you just scoop out as much as you want ❤️

The kimchi was so good our hands kept reaching for it alongside the food haha

Rice is also available at the self-serve bar, so it's great for a filling meal 🍚

What we ordered at Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae

Since you can order kalguksu along with donkatsu and naengmyeon too, it was great that the kids and adults could each pick what they wanted!!!

🍗 Western-style chicken tenderloin katsu the kids cleaned up

First out was the Western-style chicken tenderloin katsu! On top of the crispy fried chicken tenderloin,,, there was a generous amount of sauce, and it looked delicious just from the visual 🤤

The kids ate the katsu and the bread separately~~

Crispy outside, tender inside — good texture for kids to eat!

The sauce was especially delicious,,! Not too strong-flavored and it went well with the katsu, so the kids ate it comfortably too 👍🏻

There was a note on the table about how to eat Myeongyeok's chicken burger deliciously, but ㅠㅠ we unfortunately found it only after finishing everything 😂

Next time we visit, we'll check how to eat the chicken burger first haha

🌶️ Marinated crab naengmyeon: the crab steals the show

The dish I enjoyed most was the spicy crab naengmyeon!

First off, the seasoned crab,,.. was really delicious,,,❤️

The seasoning flavor was exactly to my taste, and there was plenty of crab meat, so it was fun to eat 🦀

Since the crab was so good, I ate that eagerly first and got to the noodles late,, which was a bit of a shame haha

I'd recommend trying the noodles first and then eating them together with the crab. I switched to spicy mix, and the spice level wasn't too much, just right, so it was delicious~~

And pouring in the broth to eat together gave it a whole different, delicious feel 👍🏻

Chicken katsu was included in the set too, so my husband and I shared it~~

🍜 Half-chicken kalguksu with a clean, light broth

And then the half-chicken kalguksu! It had big chunks of chicken and a generous amount of noodles, so it looked filling all on its own 🙂

The noodles had a nice chewy texture, and the broth was refreshing yet light, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy~~😍

Our second kid really ate the kalguksu well~😆

The chicken was so tender it was great for eating with a kid, and eating the noodles together with the chicken made it very filling!

🥜 Dipping the chicken in perilla sauce

When you order the half-chicken kalguksu at Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae, perilla sauce comes along with it~~

We tried dipping the chicken and noodles in the perilla sauce, and the nutty perilla seeds popped with each bite, adding great texture too 🍗

It has a different nutty flavor compared to eating it plain, so I'd recommend dipping in the sauce here and there 👍🏻 The combo of chicken and perilla sauce worked really well!!!

And eating the kalguksu together with the kimchi... 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Adding that tasty kimchi meant we finished a whole bowl in no time haha

🎁 Naver photo review event: galbi mandu or a drink

Myeongyeok was also running a Naver receipt review event~~

If you write a Naver photo review, you can get 2 galbi mandu (dumplings) or a drink, they said haha

They also had melona ice cream ready, which the kids would love~

At the end we even grabbed xylitol candy and wrapped things up nice and clean! 🍬

💛 Final verdict on Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae with kids

Overall, I liked that Myeongyeok Bundang Sunae is a restaurant near Sunae Station where you can get kalguksu, naengmyeon, and chicken tenderloin katsu all in one place!

The restaurant is spacious with kids' chairs and kids' dishware ready, which made visiting with kids easy, and being able to use diced radish kimchi, pickled radish, warm broth, and rice from the self-serve bar was convenient too ⭐️

Our kids really enjoyed the chicken tenderloin katsu and half-chicken kalguksu, and for me the crab in the spicy crab naengmyeon was so delicious it stuck with me ❤️
