Weekday dinner wait for shrimp rosé risotto in Jeonpo, Busan: Brassway

In short

Brassway Seomyeon Jeonpo is a European-style Western restaurant tucked into an alley in Jeonpo-dong, Busan, cooked by an owner-chef who graduated from Le Cordon Bleu. On a weekday evening visit booked through Naver, the writer and a friend ordered the shrimp tomato rosé risotto, which has a chewy barley texture and plump shrimp, and the galbi pasta, a soy-based dish that was spicier than expected. The rich pasta and the creamy risotto don't overlap, so the two dishes are easy to split between two people.

My friend and I decided to grab dinner in Jeonpo-dong after a long time. I'd heard there was a really hot Western restaurant in the area these days, so I made a reservation on Naver and went to check it out :) Even on a weekday evening there was a wait — a genuinely popular spot — and in the end, it turned out to be a place I want to go back to. So let me introduce Brassway's Jeonpo branch!

Where is Brassway Seomyeon Jeonpo, and where do you park?

Brassway is about a 3-minute walk from Exit 7 of Jeonpo Station. It sits in a charming alley, and the exterior itself is bursting with European vibes, so it wasn't hard to find. If you're driving, note there's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to use a nearby private lot.

Inside Brassway: atmosphere and seating

Here's the inside of Brassway. It feels like a local restaurant plucked straight out of a small Italian town. The cozy interior, filled with various props and charming decor, has a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The window seats had various little props that made the atmosphere even more charming, and there was even an envelope on the table that looked like it flew straight out of Hogwarts?

The letter on the table from Brassway's Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef

When I opened it, it turned out to be a welcome letter from Brassway to its guests :) It said the food is made by a 'son-in-law who is a galbi jjim (braised short rib) master' and who graduated from Le Cordon Bleu — now I was really looking forward to the food!!

Wow... Le Cordon Bleu, one of the three great culinary schools in the world!!! I had a strong feeling the food made here would be something special :)

My friend and I ordered the galbi pasta and shrimp tomato rosé risotto, both said to be signature dishes. The food starts cooking the moment you order, and takes about 15 minutes on average. When I went, there were people ahead of us who had already ordered, so it took about 25 minutes.

Tasting the galbi pasta in a tin pot and the risotto in a porcelain bowl

Both dishes came out at the same time, and I was surprised by how unusual the plating was. The risotto came in a pretty porcelain bowl, while the galbi pasta was served in a tin pot, just like braised galbi jjim would be.

The look and the smell both passed the test right away >,< Western food can get greasy after a while, so it's nice to eat it alongside radish and cucumber pickles to refresh your palate.

Shrimp tomato rosé risotto: chewy barley and plump shrimp

The risotto has a soft, savory style where tomato and cream come together. The tomato's tanginess isn't too strong, and it's balanced by the cream's softness, so overall it had a good balance. Best of all, it had plump, hearty shrimp in it, so it was fun to scoop up shrimp and risotto together in every spoonful.

Brassway's risotto also has a texture that's a bit different from typical rice risotto — the sauce is soft, but there's a chewy bite from barley mixed in, which kept me coming back for more spoonfuls. Personally, I loved ordering this soft rosé risotto alongside a richer-flavored dish like the galbi pasta. Since their flavors didn't overlap, it was great to go back and forth between the two.

Brassway galbi pasta: soy-based and spicier than expected

The dish I was most curious about coming to Brassway! It's Brassway's galbi pasta. It's one of their signature menu items, and it's completely different from your typical tomato or cream pasta. It's a pasta featuring a rich soy-based sauce that seems inspired by galbi jjim.

At first I thought, 'Would galbi and pasta really go well together?' but once I tried it, the combination was surprisingly good. The salty-sweet galbi jjim-like sauce soaked well into the noodles, so with the first bite I got a flavor that was both familiar and different. Oh, and it's spicier than I expected!!!! If you like spicy food, this could be right up your alley.

The galbi is just so, so tender... and there was more meat than I expected, so it was very filling :)

After finishing a truly satisfying, filling meal, I stepped outside and it had already gotten dark. With the restaurant's lighting against the dark street... the atmosphere was just something else... the terrace side looked even prettier.

Who Brassway in Jeonpo suits best

Brassway, a Jeonpo favorite, stuck in my memory not just for the delicious food but for its overall warm atmosphere. Jeonpo has plenty of pretty cafés and restaurants, but Brassway had a calmer feel that's great for sitting down and enjoying a proper meal. It suits dates, of course, but also friend gatherings, birthdays, or wedding invitation meetups — occasions where atmosphere matters. Above all, since the signature galbi pasta isn't something you can easily find elsewhere, it's a great spot to visit when you want something different in the Jeonpo area :)
