Matching flip books for couples at Jeonpo Times, a Busan photo studio

While traveling around Busan with my boyfriend, we had lunch and started looking for things to do in Jeonpo, and I found out there's a place there where you can print a moving photo book. I was like, whoa, we have to go right now! I usually only ever do four-cut photos, so I'd been wanting to try a flip book, and I had no idea Busan even had one — it turned out to be so good! Let's get into it below.

Where is Jeonpo Times in Busan?

Movie Photo Book Jeonpo Times is on the 1st floor of 52 Seojeon-ro 68beon-gil, Busanjin-gu, Busan. It's right by Jeonpo Café Street and Pogonggu-gil, so it's easy to swing by mid-date.

What are the exterior, interior and props like at Jeonpo Times?

Walking down the alley, you'll spot Jeonpo Times right away thanks to its bright yellow vending machine out front. There's also a giant eyeball-shaped model hanging above the entrance, so you can find it from a distance.

Once inside, there's a stand hung with headbands and props you can use for the shoot. There were cute bandanas with cherry and strawberry patterns, plus a variety of scarves. There were also school uniforms, which looked great for concept photos.

The walls were covered with newspaper photos other people had taken. On the worktable, various tools for making the flip books were neatly laid out.

How do you shoot a moving photo book (flip book)?

Jeonpo Times' moving photo book is a flip book made by filming 8 seconds of movement, which then prints out as 20 frames. There was an instruction sheet on another wall. The shooting guide was written out step by step so clearly that even a first-timer like me could follow along without trouble.

Let's shoot the moving photo book first.

There was a big sign telling us to move around a lot during the 8 seconds. My boyfriend and I both freeze up every time we take photos, so we racked our brains over what to do, then just went for it haha.

There's a slot at the bottom of the screen where the photos come out. Since it's a flip book and 20 sheets need to print, a note said the printing could pause briefly, so wait about a minute to be safe. We waited quietly, hearts pounding, for the finished result to appear.

Printing finally finished, and I held a full handful of the completed flip book photos. The cover photo we picked came out neatly placed on top. Seeing the photos stacked one on top of another made me want to bind them into a book right away.

Is assembling the flip book yourself difficult?

Now it's time for the flip book DIY.

The flip book DIY instructions were laid out clearly. Check the numbers, choose your cover, and staple it together — that's it. At the end, you punch a hole and attach a chain, and you're done, so the whole process was really simple.

Ta-da, here are our finished white and black flip books. Following the sample guide step by step made it easy to put together. We each made one in a different color and split them between us.

Because it's a moving flip book, we really looked like we were moving inside the pages. We walked in on a whim and made this, but it's become my favorite photo I've taken in a while.

Before shooting, we took a phone photo first, then posed for the receipt photo, and it printed out smoothly in black and white.

How does the A3 newspaper photo turn out?

Last up, we stepped outside for the giant newspaper shot.

After taking the photo, you choose a newspaper template, and we picked "Top Star Family Arrives in Busan" haha. Just looking at the screen made me laugh — it really felt like we were the headline on the front page.

When we pressed the print button, the screen lowered and the newspaper came out along with it.

Ta-da~ here's our printed newspaper! We could choose black-and-white or color, so we went with color.

Below the vending machine, they provide free plastic sleeves so the printed paper doesn't wrinkle or get wet. Thanks to that thoughtful touch, we happily got each sheet ready to store.

Following the instructions, we slid the finished newspaper photo neatly into a thin transparent sleeve. It fit in cleanly, so we could carry it around safely without worrying about wrinkles.

Before leaving, we also took a mirror shot holding the newspaper.

Is Jeonpo Times worth it for a couple's date in Busan?

It's perfect for a Jeonpo date course. I always only ever do four-cut photos, so shooting something that moves felt fresh and fun. And it's not just the moving photo book — there's also receipt photos and A3 large newspaper photos, so I think the advantage is being able to shoot several different concepts in one place. If you've only ever done four-cut photos like me, I highly recommend it!
