Gangnam hair salon wedding ash brown color: Park Jun Beauty Lab

In short

Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch is a hair salon in Gangnam, Seoul, accessible from both Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon stations. Three days before my wedding shoot, I chose its Re-born color service in level 6 ash brown, and my hair felt soft and swishy right after. Verdict: a careful choice for damaged hair needing a calm wedding-shoot color.

There’s one treatment that has been getting especially talked about among brides-to-be preparing for weddings lately—you’re curious too, right? It’s restorative color at a Gangnam Station hair salon, something to get sorted before a wedding shoot. As my shoot date got closer, I had moments of wondering, “Can I really go into the shoot with hair like this?” That was when I found out about this treatment! My gray roots were coming in, and the bounce had completely gone from damage caused by previous treatments; apparently, that shows even more under wedding-snap lighting.

To give you the result first, the ash brown came out so beautifully, and on the day of my wedding shoot I heard “Your color came out really well” from people around me again and again 🤍

Why did I prioritize restoration before wedding color?

When searching for a Gangnam Station hair salon, restoration was what I cared about most. Among brides-to-be, the idea that “it’s enough if the tone is pretty” seems to be changing. A lot of people said that hair with healthy texture looks much more natural both in shoot photos and in wedding-day styling 🍂

I compared lots of reviews for Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon Station hair salons, and Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch in particular kept coming up as a specialist in restorative color. It was easy to get to from both Gangnam Station Exit 11 and Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 4.

My restorative color at Gangnam Station was the salon’s signature Re-born color service, done by the deputy manager. My natural hair was fairly light, so when settling on the tone, we considered both the shoot lighting and my complexion and went with level 6 ash brown!

It is an ash tone that settles down calmly without red undertones, so it went naturally with my wedding dress and bouquet colors too. Going bright indiscriminately would mean more damage, so they chose a menu specifically for damaged hair. The consultation was the longest part, and they went through everything in detail, which definitely made me more satisfied :)

What is the restorative color process like?

I asked because I was curious about the restorative color process at Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch. They said they first refine the hair surface with surface peeling, remove calcium ions inside the hair with a deep detox, then replenish it with repair ingredients suited to the cause of the damage.

Then they apply a finishing coating as a protective barrier and complete everything with treatment, in that order. They even used disposable towels during the treatment, so I could feel the care they took with hygiene too—I was even more pleased!

To make sure the color went on without patchiness, it was applied in three separate touches. The deputy manager checked everything carefully, and I think that is why the color came out so nicely!

Even right after the ash brown wedding color, the difference was so noticeable: it felt swishy without any stiffness. The salon also has an Insaengnecut photo booth, so I could take before-and-after photos. For brides-to-be who want to document all the little things while preparing for a wedding, I think this would be a sweet little bonus too 📸

How many days before a wedding should you color your hair?

When to color hair before a wedding shoot

Surprisingly, wedding-color timing is something lots of people wonder about. I had restorative color three days before my wedding shoot, and I think anywhere from one week to three days beforehand is best!

On the day of coloring or the day before, your scalp may still be irritated and there can be a lingering smell. The color also needs time to settle completely, so it is best to leave at least two to three days. After around three days, my color had settled into a much calmer, more natural ash brown tone.

One useful tip for choosing a wedding-color shade: if your wedding dress is white or ivory, an ash tone without red undertones photographs beautifully and makes your complexion look brighter.
