Isn't the weather amazing these days? On my way to hang out in Hanam over the weekend, I got a craving for jjukkumi (webfoot octopus) and looked up Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch. The photos showed a huge parking lot and looked delicious, so I drove straight there.

Parking and wait times at Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch
Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch sits on the outskirts of downtown Hanam, so the restaurant itself is big and the parking lot is huge. You can park right in front of the restaurant, but there's also a wide space behind the building, so parking is super convenient!

I went right at Saturday lunchtime and there were quite a few groups — families and gatherings. Luckily since I went a bit later for lunch, there was no wait.

Oh, perilla jjukkumi to go is ₩10,000. Now that's great value, right?

Cute animal figures greet you at the entrance. Those two tigers look like they each had a bottle of soju haha.
Inside Jigueseo On Jjukkumi: group rooms and the menu
The building looked big from outside, and the inside of Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch is huge too. I liked that the tables were spaced far apart. And the back area was set up like private rooms, so a lot of groups were gathering there!
There's also a second floor, but I didn't go up.

You order using the tablet on the table. It's not just the jjukkumi set — they also have monkfish stew, cod soup and more on the menu. (I peeked at a family nearby who ordered the monkfish stew and it looked incredibly delicious.) Plus there are sides like seafood pancake and gorgonzola pizza!
✔️ Perilla jjukkumi set (2 people) ₩26,000 ✔️ Drink ₩2,000 Ordered!!

There was an apron waiting at our seat.

The perilla jjukkumi set comes with hot pot rice, so they bring you hot water along with it.
The spoons and chopsticks are individually wrapped, which feels extra clean.

What side dishes come with the jjukkumi set for two?
The 2-person perilla jjukkumi set came out pretty quickly. Plenty of jjukkumi, plenty of side dishes too.

The side dishes were really generous. Seaweed soup, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), even pollack roe..❗ It felt like a whole birthday spread. And every single dish was delicious.

King jjukkumi the size of an octopus, with a smoky char
The jjukkumi at Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch comes out in one huge bowl, completely packed. The moment it arrives, it's full of smoky char and perilla oil aroma.

And it's absolute king-size jjukkumi. Really big and plump. So the portion feels enormous too.

How to eat the pot rice and gyeolmyeongja tea scorched rice
They scoop the hot pot rice into a bowl for you — careful, it's hot!

Pour in water and wait a bit — the water wasn't just plain hot water, it seemed to be gyeolmyeongja (cassia seed) tea. The aroma was really nutty and nice.

Load the bowl up with jjukkumi

Mix it all together nicely
Then top it with a piece of pollack roe? Absolutely delicious. You get a big hit of perilla oil and smoky char, and the jjukkumi's texture is so good. I'm a bit of a spice wimp so it was a little spicy for me, but my husband said it wasn't spicy at all for him. Then again, jjukkumi's got to be spicy to be good~ If it's too spicy for you, I'd recommend ordering the seafood pancake or gorgonzola pizza as backup!! We were too full to try them though, sadly.

Wait, isn't this octopus, not jjukkumi??? Every piece I picked up was king-size, so I kept marveling the whole meal.
Finished the rice? Then it's nurungji (scorched rice) time. I love nurungji so I really love hot pot rice, and getting hot pot rice plus the jjukkumi set for ₩13,000? Great value.

Piling jjukkumi onto the nurungji makes it even better. I'm craving it again just writing this.

Free dessert coffee and ice cream, plus the verdict on Jigueseo On Jjukkumi
After you finish eating, there's coffee and ice cream waiting for dessert at the entrance. Mix coffee and brewed coffee too~ Such a nice touch.

There are also chairs and tables in front of the restaurant, perfect for waiting or having coffee and ice cream after your meal. And I noticed from the moment we walked in — the staff were super friendly, which was really nice. If you're looking for a Hanam restaurant with easy parking, give Jigueseo On Jjukkumi a try. It's great for family gatherings or groups, and with such a varied menu, I highly recommend it. (Oh, and the restroom is inside and clean, which is an extra plus.)
