Solo-friendly Thai restaurant in Gyodong, Daegu: pad thai at Thai Yami

In short

Thai Yami is a Thai restaurant in Gyodong, Jung-gu, Daegu, a short walk from Exit 3 of Jungangno Station. Visiting by car with a friend, the writer ordered pad thai at 15,000 won, kai phrai (chicken salad) at 21,000 won and fresh-squeezed orange juice at 5,500 won, and found Thai Yami laid out with both group tables and single seats, so eating alone feels easy. The kai phrai, rarely seen at other restaurants, stayed the favorite dish at Thai Yami.

On a day when I was craving Thai food after a long while, my friend and I headed to Gyodong for some 💕 The place we ate at was Thai Yami, a Gyodong, Daegu restaurant with great vibes and great food‼️

Parking and solo seats at Thai Yami: is one hour free?

📌 Thai Yami parking info ✔️ Parking available at the Hyundai Sun&Vill Jungangno officetel, basement or ground level ✔️ 1 hour free parking support

Since Thai Yami offers 1 hour of free parking if you bring a car, we drove over too. Just give them your license plate number after you finish eating and they'll apply the 1 hour support, so be sure to check on that 🙏🏻

And Thai Yami had group seating for parties of several people, as well as solo dining seats set up for eating alone 💕 As a solo diner myself, I love restaurants that have seats like this‼️

What is on the menu at Thai Yami in Gyodong, Daegu?

Thai Yami wasn't just about Thai food — it also served Korean dishes like Korean beef shabu shabu hot pot and clam hot pot, so whether you're in the mood for Thai or Korean food, you can eat to your taste, which made it even more satisfying 💓

We ordered pad thai, kai phrai, and a fresh-squeezed orange juice to finish 🙋🏻‍♀️

  • Pad Thai ✅️ 15,000 won
  • Kai Phrai (chicken salad) ✅️ 21,000 won
  • Fresh-squeezed orange juice ✅️ 5,500 won

I've eaten pad thai at plenty of Thai restaurants over the years, but this was the first time I'd ever tried kai phrai, the chicken salad, right here at Thai Yami 🙋🏻‍♀️ Since it was a dish I'd never had before, I was already excited before it even arrived, and the moment I saw how it looked when it came out, I just knew it was going to be delicious ❣️

With pad thai — a classic Thai dish that's hard to get wrong — plus the light chicken salad kai phrai, and a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice on the side, it made for a truly lovely spread 😍

The pad thai, packed with crunchy bean sprouts and plump shrimp, was that much more delicious ❣️

Squeezing the lemon that came as a topping over the noodles boosted the pad thai's savory depth even more 🍋

The crushed peanuts doubled the nutty flavor, and there were plenty of bean sprouts too, so the crunchy texture was totally my thing 💕

Kai phrai (chicken salad), 21,000 won: what kind of dish is it?

▫️Kai Phrai (chicken salad) ✅️ 21,000 won A chicken salad that's hard to find anywhere else — the kai phrai you can only get at Thai Yami 😍

Boneless chicken breast fried up nicely and served with crisp vegetables, cheese topping, and a sauce — the kai phrai made for a refreshing bite 🥗

Since it's made purely from lean chicken breast, it's light and tasty enough that adults will love it, but I think kids would go crazy for the kai phrai too 💕 If you're heading to Thai Yami with kids, I definitely recommend ordering this one 🙏🏻

Thai Yami is a great Gyodong, Daegu restaurant to hit up when you're craving something a bit different — Thai food or shabu shabu hot pot 💕 Most of all, it's a place where you can get kai phrai, that chicken salad dish that's hard to find elsewhere, so I'm already planning to go back for it again ❣️
