Kalguksu with brisket topping in Dongseong-ro, Daegu: Donggok Jemyeon
In short
Donggok Jemyeon is a handmade-noodle kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant in Dongseong-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu. On a Friday visit for two, the order was Korean beef bone broth kalguksu with extra brisket topping, chogye bibim kalguksu (chilled tangy-spicy mixed noodles) and a seafood chive pancake, and the thin, springy house-made noodles with crisp kimchi were the highlight. Donggok Jemyeon is the kind of place where two people can trade spoonfuls of rich bone broth and bites of tangy noodles all through one meal.

Annyeong! Do you know Donggok Jemyeon, a Daegu local favorite? It's a homemade-noodle kalguksu restaurant right in Dongseong-ro, so it's super easy to get to!

So riiich~! They say the beef bone broth is simmered for 20 hours. I couldn't wait to taste it 💕

Where is Donggok Jemyeon, and what are the hours and parking?
Donggok Jemyeon is located at 629 Gukchebosang-ro, 1st floor, Jung-gu, Daegu (89-1 Gongpyeong-dong), open daily from 11:30 to 21:00. Last order is 20:30, and they're closed September 25 for Chuseok. Parking is supported at the Dongseong-ro public parking lot.
We visited on Friday, September 18, 2026. We parked at the Dongseong-ro lot and walked over.
What Donggok Jemyeon looks like from the street
It appeared pretty quickly as we walked. The orange sign catches your eye from far away, so it wasn't hard to find even on a first visit!

There were menu photos right by the entrance, so we could browse before going in. Alright, let's head inside!
Inside Donggok Jemyeon: seating and the self-serve kimchi
The interior had a calm ivory-and-wood-tone atmosphere. The tables weren't cramped, and everything was kept clean overall, making it comfortable to eat 😊
A mini onggi (traditional clay jar) inside the fridge?! Oh my god, they really seem serious about their food. They also had a high chair and disposable aprons ready ☺️

- They say they make it with the mindset of feeding family
- Additive-free homemade noodles that don't get soggy easily
- Traditional-method doenjang (soybean paste) from rural Cheongdo — must be the paste inside the jar 👍
- Quality Korean beef bone, good for you and good tasting
After reading this explanation, I got the sense this place really cares about the ingredients and broth they use.

There were basic seasonings and kimchi on the table — and you know kimchi flavor really matters at a kalguksu place, right? The kimchi here delivers!! Not too spicy, not too salty, crisp, exactly the kind I like. It paired especially well with the mild, clean-tasting bone broth noodles, the tangy kick of the kimchi complemented it perfectly 👍
Donggok Jemyeon menu and how to order at the table

You can order easily via table order kiosk, and you can choose to pay before or after your meal!

If you do the Naver receipt review event, you get dakmuchim (seasoned chicken salad)!! We ordered chogye bibim kalguksu, beef bone kalguksu, and seafood chive pancake 😋
Since we were ordering bibim kalguksu too, wearing white without an apron was not an option 🤣
Two bowls of kalguksu and a chive pancake for two people

Everything came out at once! The visuals were insane. Laid out together like this, doesn't it look even more generous? The portions were plenty for two, it felt like a proper full meal.
Just looking at it made me feel full already. The combination of beef bone kalguksu, chogye bibim kalguksu, and seafood chive pancake was perfect.

Doesn't it look delicious from every angle? If you're looking for a Gyodong, Daegu meal spot and you love noodles or pancakes, this menu lineup is really solid!
Korean beef bone broth kalguksu with brisket topping
I added the brisket topping, and honestly all I could see was meat. The color of the finely chopped chives and scallions made it even more appetizing 🥹
Grabbed some noodles and meat together for the first bite! There was plenty of meat, so I got to eat it with almost every bite of noodles.
A generous spread ✨️ Piping hot kalguksu with crispy chive pancake.
The noodles were springy, thin, and soft. Being homemade noodles, they felt extra special and delicious.
Eating the clean, mild broth and then topping it with a piece of kimchi instantly refreshed my palate. Kalguksu and kimchi are just unbeatable together ❤️ Once I had that delicious kimchi, I couldn't put my chopsticks down. Then I'd sip the hot broth too.
Chogye bibim kalguksu, the chilled tangy-spicy noodles
The presentation alone was amazing. The sesame seeds were poured on generously〰️ and there was a big chunk of meat on top too 🤤
Under that mountain of sesame seeds were noodles, yeolmu (young radish greens), and other toppings piled high.

Both the noodles and the sauce were soft, and with so much meat and topping, I kept gobbling it down. The savory richness of the sesame oil was incredible too.

Can you see the shine? The chogye bibim kalguksu is so good,, 🥰 If you like seasoned noodle dishes, you have to try this! As I ate, the sauce soaked into the noodles more and more, so the flavor stayed rich right to the last bite. Totally different charm from the bone broth kalguksu, perfect for alternating between the two!
Seafood chive pancake at Donggok Jemyeon
The edges were golden-brown and crispy, while the center stayed moist with chives and seafood. A crispy chive-based pancake loaded with shrimp and squid! The red chili peppers even completed the color 💯👏👏

They placed the onion soy sauce right in the center for easy dipping, dig in!!

You can enjoy it in different ways depending on the sauce. The chili in the soy sauce wasn't spicy either, so pairing it in cuts the richness — a perfect match. All three dishes had their own charm, so I stayed busy going back and forth between them.
Dessert: the yogurt after the meal
A thoughtful little dessert yogurt at the entrance 🧡 Grabbing one after the meal was the perfect finish to cleanse the palate! Little touches like this make you feel good~¿
Who should eat at Donggok Jemyeon in Dongseong-ro?
It's located in Dongseong-ro but close to Gyodong too, so I'd recommend it as a Gyodong, Daegu meal spot as well. I don't usually get to eat homemade-noodle kalguksu, but this place tasted noticeably different. The noodles were springy yet soft, so they just went right down 😋
Whether you love a rich bone broth or a tangy-spicy mixed noodle bowl, this is a great place to pick based on your mood. If you're in Jung-gu, Daegu looking for a hearty Gyodong meal spot, definitely give Donggok Jemyeon a visit 🫡
