Suwon café for a Greek yogurt bowl after a morning run: Caffeine Focus
In short
Caffeine Focus is a bakery café in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, that fills a whole three-story building looking out on the Hwaseong Fortress wall and Paldalsan mountain. After a morning run the writer walked in at the 11am opening for an avocado smoothie (7,000 won) and a cardamom granola Greek yogurt bowl (5,800 won), then took a choco fig ciabatta and an egg scone home. The fortress view is best from the 3rd floor of Caffeine Focus, especially the terrace zone with only two tables.

Yay-hoo!
When I pick a café in Haenggung-dong, the coffee and dessert matter, but I'm really the type who cares a lot about the view out the window! Haenggung-dong especially has cafés where you can look out at the Hwaseong Fortress wall while you sip, so on nice days I go looking for a terrace or window seat!
This time I visited Caffeine Focus. The whole three-story building is the café, so each floor has a slightly different mood and view! Above all, this is a place anyone hunting for a café with a great Hwaseong Fortress view needs to know about. Here's the review!
Where is Caffeine Focus, and what does the building look like?
Caffeine Focus is a three-story bakery café on Changnyongdae-ro 80beon-gil in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. I ran there on an empty stomach for a morning run around Hwaseong Fortress, and after about 2 miles, finding Caffeine Focus felt like discovering an oasis in the desert!

Arrived! Yay-hoo!
There's a photo zone right by the entrance haha — kind of an Instagram-shot mirror.

Seeing that the sourdough ciabatta lineup is the best-seller, I figured this place specialized in meal-replacement bread! But once inside, there were plenty of dessert options too — officially a bakery worth visiting!

The terrace zone was so dreamy too — but sadly, pets weren't allowed!

I walked in right at 11am opening and the freshly baked, delicious-looking bread was already out.

2nd floor or 3rd floor: which has the better fortress view?
The 2nd floor at Caffeine Focus
The 2nd floor of Caffeine Focus is a cozy space, but the windows give it an open, airy feel! Sipping a drink while looking out at the lush green fortress view is pure healing 💚

They thoughtfully keep a blanket and water on hand too.
The 3rd floor and its two-table terrace zone
The space I actually want to recommend is the 3rd floor of Caffeine Focus! The view is insane — the seats can get a bit sunny, but sitting here feels like sitting inside a painting 🖼️

Eating a meal while looking out at this watercolor-like view — pure luxury 💓
If the sun feels too strong, I'd recommend this spot instead! Right here—

The terrace zone! There are only about two tables so grab one fast! It's set up with European-feeling tables too, so the relaxed vibe is strong (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)
How do the avocado smoothie and Greek yogurt bowl taste?
The Caffeine Focus avocado smoothie (₩7,000) apparently has no sugar, just a little condensed milk, and the cardamom granola Greek yogurt bowl (₩5,800) came with properly soaked chia seeds.

The bread seemed like it would make me too full, so I asked to have it packed to go, and decided to eat the avocado smoothie and Greek yogurt bowl there instead!

I asked and the avocado smoothie has no sugar, just a bit of condensed milk, for reference! It's smooth, nutty, and not too sweet, so even with a decent-sized portion I finished it in no time! There are a lot of avocado juices and smoothies around these days, but this was my first time trying an avocado smoothie, and the result: I'm a fan!

I actually make Greek yogurt bowls at home and have bought them out too, but I'd never had one quite like this — a genuinely fresh surprise! ( POSITIVE ) I haven't found many places that soak the chia seeds this well, and as a chia seed lover myself, it was really delicious.

The fruit inside was varied, and the granola didn't taste store-bought — looked homemade, mildly nutty-sweet, with great texture. Really delicious.
Egg scone and choco fig ciabatta, taken home

I tried the bread I packed to go once I got home.

The egg scone... to cut to the conclusion, this is insane — why is this so good?! 💯💯
I tend to like a heavier, custard-based egg tart, and this hit my taste exactly.
Then the choco fig ciabatta! Choco baguettes are trendy right now, so it seemed like a spin on that. I spread on some cream cheese I had at home and it was nutty, with sweet bites of chocolate throughout — really charming.
Is Caffeine Focus worth a post-run stop in Suwon?
What stuck with me most about Caffeine Focus was really the fortress view — enjoying the café, delicious bread, and drinks while looking out at the wall felt relaxed and healing.
It's a bit in the opposite direction from the Haenggung-dong hotspots, so if you're looking for a café near Flying Suwon, it's only a 10-minute walk — I'd recommend coming here. Or you could take a walk along the fortress wall from near Yeonmudae and stop by afterward.
- A large three-story café in Haenggung-dong
- A terrace facing the Hwaseong Fortress wall and Paldalsan mountain
- A bakery with plenty of meal-replacement bread and desserts
