Long-hair thinning cut and side bangs at Gangnam hair salon Beorn Hair

Today I'm reviewing a hair-salon gem near Gangnam-gu Office Station — Beorn Hair Cheongdam 🫶🏻

I went back and forth on whether to cut my hair or get a clinic treatment, but after seeing reviews about how comfortable designer Seonjun's treatments were, I booked a same-day appointment and headed over 🤓

Beorn Hair is a 5-minute walk from Gangnam-gu Office Station 💇🏻‍♀️

Head up to the 2nd floor and the salon is right there

The interior is super clean, with waiting seats and a café-style spot in the middle for comfortable treatments. There were also Ahyoonche products and other hair products available for purchase.

I dropped off my bag, changed into a gown, and waited a bit since I arrived early :)

Consultation and hair condition before the treatment

It was still hot during the day and I was sweating buckets 😳 (I hadn't been feeling the heat lately, then suddenly it hit me...). A cute, sweet staff member brought me a drink and dessert. First I had a thorough consultation with the designer, who checked my hair condition before starting.

[Before treatment] Watching the video from before the treatment, you can clearly see the split ends, lack of shine, and overall frizziness ㅠㅠ It's honestly hard to keep up with regular clinic treatments. Plus I've done black-removal and dye, so my hair couldn't help but be damaged...haha

They asked in detail about my treatment history, and since I have thick hair, there's always the same question at any salon 🐰 ("How long does it take to dry your hair~?ㅋㅋㅋㅋ") Drying is a hassle but I just can't give up long hair. So this time too I seriously considered a layered cut 🤔

What is an inner clinic treatment?

It's a treatment using a patented bonding technology that firmly fills in the keratin protein structure that forms the internal 'skeleton' of the hair!! The treatment took about 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes.

Step-by-step inner clinic process

✔️ First, they shampoo to remove waste, chemicals, silicone, etc. from inside the hair, opening the way for nutrients to penetrate deep into the strands. They explained each step carefully as they went, and it definitely felt more systematic and professional than a regular clinic treatment 👏🏻

The shampoo room is so cozy and the chair is super comfortable~ 👍🏻

They put on a face cover so water wouldn't splash. After a thorough shampoo, they moved to ✔️ absorbing coarse-particle protein to firmly fill in the damaged hair's structure 🫧

Then I moved to a table in the middle for ✔️ fine-particle protein to penetrate deep into the hair, using a heating tool to soften the cuticles ✨ Usually at salons my scalp gets pulled during combing, but Seonjun's touch was truly gentle every single step ㅠㅠ

Scalp massage in the spa room with massage chairs

One thing that stood out about Beorn Hair: they have a spa room ⭐️ A spa room with massage chairs!! With soft music and dim lighting, it's the kind of place that makes you drowsy.

Getting a cooling scalp massage while the clinic treatment was happening was so good~! The scent was lovely and it was super refreshing, like all my fatigue melted away 💓

✔️ After the massage, they finished by applying a moisture-oil balance cream so the protein absorbed inside wouldn't easily leak out, protecting the outer layer while smoothing the cuticles and adding shine and coating.

Before drying, they applied essence and blow-dried my hair. All I got was the clinic treatment, so why does my hair feel this much lighter?!! Usually my hair tangles and drying is a struggle, but this time just finger-combing left it silky smooth!! 😳

Thinning and side bangs while keeping the long length

My hair had grown a lot and felt heavy, so I was torn — the current length is just right and I still love the layered cut, so I wanted to keep it while thinning it out and cutting side bangs 🤎 Since I tie my hair up most of the time at work, side bangs look best when trimmed regularly 🙂

Designer Seonjun cut with such careful, precise hands that I just trusted him completely and asked him to make it pretty, haha. He kept checking in during the cut, asking where I wanted a bit more taken off or if anything felt off — I totally fell for how thoughtful he was. I'll definitely be back 🙈

I don't like it when too much volume gets thinned out. I wanted just the right amount — not too light, not too heavy, which is a pretty picky request, haha — but he cut exactly what I wanted, and I loved it. He recommended trimming the side bangs every 3 months.

After the final blow-dry, a quick photo with designer Seonjun 📸 All I did was thin it out, so why does it feel so different? The side bang waves and C-curl blow-dry were so, so satisfying, haha. Judging by the reviews, Seonjun is also great at layered cuts!! I'll have to go back for one next time~!

As someone who's a total introvert on first visits, it was so nice to finally relax during a treatment again thanks to designer Seonjun 😆

A little story on the way home

I went to Lotte Tower in Jamsil afterward and happened to notice a huge crowd — turned out it was Kim Yuna and Haerin from NewJeans 🫢

They were seriously so pretty with tiny little faces~ 🫶🏻 And apparently Nam Joo-hyuk, Shin Ye-eun, Joy, and Kim Jae-won were also around... too bad I couldn't catch them all~
